CASS badges have expiration dates and everyone that has one has had a background check.
There are no badges required to participate in CASS. Are you talking about SIDA badges?

You'd need a company ID in order to use CASS...
Yes, of course you do. I just meant there is no specific "CASS ID" that you get issued to participate in it.
Correct, AA, Envoy and a few other companies provide CASS id's because the company ID's do not have expiration dates on them.
I would be willing to pay for pre check, those lines are usually short. I commute, too but for me, it's easier to jumpseat or ride OAL as opposed to company. I guess my question is, would I list on my company, get a pre check boarding pass, and then just to the OAL?
Has anyone had any issues getting through TSA Pre-Check while jumpseating? A TSA agent told me today that "it has to be printed on your ticket, regardless if you possess a Global Entry card".

If i get global entry, do they issue me a new passport with that RF chip in it, or do I have to get the new RF passport first/separately?
It is linked to your passport number. They give you a card and assign you a KTN (Known Traveler Number). It's all computerized on their part, but they do attach a little sticker to the inside cover of you passport.
Disclaimer: I don't have global entry, but that's what my friend has told me. He has it and pisses me off by cruising through customs while I'm stuck in line with the riff-raff, forced to rub elbows with the great unwashed masses.

With the employee line, I haven't had any issues getting through with my CREW badge. They usually ask if I'm working, I just say that I haven't listed for jumpseat yet even though it's on my own airline.
