Trans States Airlines to get 36 airplanes

Call me jaded and skeptical, but until regional guys are no longer willing to step on the neck of the guy next to them to get ahead, I'm gonna have to disagree. As for ending "senior regional pilot groups," guys are still sticking around a sinking ship like Endeavor because they don't want to give up the seniority or QoL to sit reserve at a major. I don't see that ending any time soon unless we go through a cycle of several regional shut down/start ups. It's not even exclusive to pilots. I know two VERY senior FAs at Endeavor that would be good fits at Blue. One lives in MCO, the other in MIA. Neither want to give up the commute to JFK because of their QoL despite the fact the constantly complain about how they're treated by the company and how bleak the outlook is for their continued employment. They won't leave until the doors are slammed on them. I'm sure there are several senior CAs just as entrenched. Doubly so if they live in DTW or MSP.

Is there really anything wrong with that, though? They're just weighing the pros and cons and making the decision that the QOL is more important to them at this point. Seems rational to me. Different people have different priorities.

Given enough time, I agree. But is this gonna happen under current conditions. I think we might actually see a crew cancel or 2 in the next few years. The question is, will this result in better pay and conditions, or just more bonuses and flows?

Absolutely not. Everyone's situation is different, and everyone needs to make the decision for themselves. I was just pointing out that we'll likely NOT see an end to "super senior" regionals. If jetBlue started tanking tomorrow and guys were leaving left and right, I'd probably ride it out until it was a smoking hole based on the fact I don't have to commute. I've never spent this much time at home AND been gainfully employed.

We haven't received anymore memos on what model of 145s we are getting. Not sure how people thought we are getting the 135's

Well since we XJT are loosing LR's with the weight increase and TR's I'd guess them. None the less I applied and got the invite currently 4k TT, just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet as im on the fence on about it.

The only thing that would suck is the sitting in the right seat and long reserve.

There is nothing wrong with it, except that regionals were never meant to be a career. Kind of hard to do the SSP when there are no CA slots since the attrition is at the bottom.

Says who? Lots of people have made careers of regionals. You can argue whether it's the smartest move, but that's a matter of opinion.
Says economics. Pinnacle only wanted us for 5 years, that's how their business model worked.

Regionals can't afford to have expensive contracts due to industry dynamics. But it's not about whether top out pay is $82 or $115, it's about how many people are at that pay. The more lifers you have, the less the market can bear regional CA pay exceeding $90/hr.

I don't disagree with that, but unless you put in place a flow to keep people moving, then it's an inevitable reality that a certain group of people aren't going to be interested in giving up their seniority to move up. Hence why flows are good for everyone.

DTW. I want to bid the 700 to offset some commuting costs and I've already flown with the crazy bastards that fly that out of ATL.

Plus I like the small base thing. It's like an entirely different airline. You know most of the people, less angry rednecks ranting in the crew lounge. A big win all around.

Yup, I hear that. You'll end up seeing me up there as well. Had my fill of ATL and the ridiculousness...just need that position notice to drop.

Could a tsa pilot or someone who has it post a link to the whole cba our pm me. I'm considering it and my second time around I have a much better understanding of the importance of the contract as it pertains to making a job decision.

If I could remember my Alpa user name and password I would

I feel they're waiting for additional "information" to drop before they go bonkers.

We could certainly use a break, but as a precaution I'm fully expecting to get a kick square in the nuts. Habit.

I do think you're right though. Those first two notices came out really quickly. Then...nothing.
