I missed that part, I wasn't watching live so had to look up what the actual astronaut said and it didn't seem too bad. Just proves commentators who feel like they need to fill every silence end up ruining everything.Yeah, again the message was positive but it was awkward afterward when the NASA commentator made sure to speak up about the Jesus part. Unnecessary in the moment.
In other news, splash down is today!
The extraction took longer than the journey back from the moon!
The best part was when the first Seahawk came in way to fast to hoist the crew, and dragged the rescue swimmer on the end of the cable right into the side of the raft.
All this talk of a moon base just makes me sad that For all Mankind really fell off a cliff and started to suck after the second season.
Are you sure? People were angry at the pilot for discounting his race when asked if he was proud to be the first black man to...I'm usually the one drawing parallels with the past and often pointing out how "the good old days" actually sucked as compared to now (crime, standard of living, etc). There are so many parallels between Artemis II and Apollo 8 and it is well known how tumultuous 1968 was in total suckage but I got to tell you - between dealing with everything in 1968 and dealing with everything today, my opinion is that we in 2026 have 1968 beat in terms of total suckitude. I think that makes Artemis hit a little harder and hit differently: will Artemis be a form of Swan Song, the most beautiful song prior to death? Or will Artemis reinvigorate the able and sane ("...while the best lack all conviction.")?
I'm happy. You think I'm angry but I'm not.Dude, you really have to work on your inferiority complex with people of color. I might suggest the comedy "Shrinking" which doesn't deal with your issue, but it somewhat comedically talks about the human condition, suffering and trying to figure oneself out… sometimes on our own, sometimes with the help of others.
If you've literally been given the world by birthright and couldn't leverage that into happiness into your 50's, that's a "You Issue", not anyone else's.
I'm happy. You think I'm angry but I'm not.
If anything it was just a beautiful sight to see. It was probably the first time in the past couple of years that I felt proud to be American again. It's a stark contrast to the usual embarrassment I've been feeling lately every time our president opens his mouth. We had little watch parties at home for the launch and splashdown and a lot of the people there with us weren't even space nerds. I enjoyed supplementing the live commentary with my stories and everyone seemed amazed at the feat and had a good time cheering Artemis on. I think this is exactly what we need right now, to bring everyone together in a time of turmoil.I'm usually the one drawing parallels with the past and often pointing out how "the good old days" actually sucked as compared to now (crime, standard of living, etc).
