Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire.....

Anyone have an old Lear that we can do airwork over the golf course?

[/ QUOTE ]

Lear? Heck, perhaps an old F-4!

Even better!

Re: Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire...

There's a whole bunch of A4s out of Gateway. Anybody know somebody at Approach that could change their IFR out of IWA any? Maybe instead of a 090 departure something like a 350 or so?

I kid... Really.

I actually enjoy watching the big planes come in and land at SDL when the major events are going on like this!

Screw those golfers!

How do you think those golfers got to the tourney? They certainly didn't fly commercial... I've never seen the ramp at Corporate Jets so crowded! (nor have the wait times for departure been longer!!!!)

Re: Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire...

Interesting quote from this guy. He better be careful if is istaken for a laser, he may get a visit from the boys in blue.

Ironwood Village resident Norm Geisenheimer also asked for better monitoring, saying that corporate jets fly so low over his house at night that he can light up the bottom of jets with a flashlight.

How he can tell this when the landing lights are on, I'll never know.

His Maglite or the landing lights on a Gulfstream or Citation. Hmmmm.

Mike,
are there any more meetings coming up? I wish I would have known about the last one. Planes fly over my house in north Scottsdale all the time. One guy must have been at 300' AGL. Yeah, I grabbed his tail number.........and put it in my logbook

(KIDDING).

What some of these city officials fail to realize is that those corporate jets are owned by the people that own $5 and $10 million dollar homes that pay HEFTY property taxes and support the city of Scottsdale. I know two guys that have jets that own half the night clubs and restaurants in Scottsdale. I think these people are contributing to the city just fine.

Besides....the airport was there YEARS before the idiots spent a million dollars to live at the approach/departure end of an airport.

Let me know when the next meeting is and I will make sure there at least 20 more pilots there.

My thoughts EXACTLY... If you don't like planes and airports then don't live by one! Those people that are flying in and out of the airport are paying city taxes just like everyone else.

Re: Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire...

Someone builds a housing complex on a three mile final from a pre-existing airport and wants sympathy?

But the blame lies a lot with the Scottsdale city council as well. Even after realizing that allowing a developer to build on a three mile final, they went ahead last year and approved development of luxury homes on 'base to final', near some high voltage power lines. We're talking homes *starting* at $700,000 for the el cheapos so you know they're going to be grumpy from working too much or have all the time on their hands to call in tail numbers.

Chances are, not only will we get more noise complaints, people will start complaining about the deleterioius health effects of living near power lines and want them buried underground.

Lovely area, lovely mountains, fantastic appreciation of my home's value, but if any area would benefit from a catastophic event like "Night Of The Comet", it's got to be North Scottsdale.

Are you saying those people paying $700,000 for a house are actually irradiated mutants attacking a shopping mall? That is, if I remember my cheesy 80s horror movies correctly......

Re: Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire...

Nah, just the "people vanishing into thin air" stuff. I really don't want any evil irradiated mutants following me down the aisle at my friendly neighborhood grocer.

Re: Throwing fuel on the SDL airport noise fire...

Try again. Double-tap on one link, misfire on the second.
