Good Job Mike!

Man I can't believe how some of these people are such babies, and plus the dude that calls the line between 4 and 6 all the time

Must have made an impact, at least on the reporter, to be included/quoted that high up in the story Mike, good job!

They are all a bunch of whiney little *$#)($@@'s though.

Actually, we should look up Mr. Lukebill's phone number and call him repeatedly complaining about his complaining. Giurella warfare ...

Watch out for Benedict Bass (which rhymes nicely with a$$), looks like he'd sell out his fellow aviators in a heart beat.

Near where I grew up there was a Hog farm. The farm didn't keep anyone from buying a house in the "New subdivision" but they sure raised a stink about it once the moved in. (No pun intended)

People Suck.

I'm writing to the Arizona Pilot's association (of which Arv Shultz is President and SDL City Councilman Bob Littlefield is Central AZ head of legislative affairs) about the troubling comments by Mr. Bass. If it's his intention to sell other pilots down-river (in this case jet pilots, and I tend to include military jets in this), then I'm going to raise holy-hell about this too.

Reference www.azpilots.org to find the "contacts" page.

Here's my letter to SDL city Councilman Bob Littlefield:

Councilman Littlefield,

Capt. Mike Daftarian here. You may remember me from the 31 March noise studies meeting at Grayhawk Elementary school, I'm the A-10 pilot from Davis-Monthan AFB.

I'm writing about the attached article where Mr. Steve Bass, listed as the membership chairman for APA, makes the comments about "I'd actually go along with kicking them out" regards jet-aircraft at SDL. Is that the official position of the APA? Because if so, I'd have a serious problem with pilots back-stabbing other pilots regards the SDL noise issue. If that's the way Mr. Bass, or the APA in general, feels about jet aircraft, then I'd have to wonder if that animosity extends to military aircraft operations at SDL also. And if so, that would be troubling news to me, as it should be to all pilots involved in the current issues surrounding KSDL.

As pilots, we need to stick together. Division of the kind that Mr. Bass demonstrates is harmful not only to the airport's future itself, but to the teamwork and camraderie of the pilot community utilizing KSDL as a whole. The Arizona Pilots Association is supposed to be representative of the interests of all Arizona pilots, not just light-aircaft pilots. A pilot flying a corporate jet for a SDL based company, is just as much an Arizona Pilot as would be a GA pilot flying his 172 out of KSDL.

I write my comments to you, Councilman Littlefield, because I have no contact information to write Mr. Bass directly. It would be very appreciated if you could take the time to address this issue.

Kind Regards,

Mike Daftarian

Dag Gummit, now you’ve done raised the rabble in me.

Excellent letter Mike. Milqtoast pilots like Mr. Bass will be one more nail in the coffin of GA. First you kick out the Jets and Helicopters, then it’s the twins, etc. Next thing you know, you won’t be able to fly a model airplane in SDL.

Kick some A$$.

Let me know if you need more ‘angry’ letters to azpilots. I’d like to use my English degree for something useful (not that JC isn’t useful).

Cool, I didn't know you are an A-10 pilot, Mike.

Only for another 14 days.

With an English degree you're now fair game for the Spelling Police:

Milquetoast
n : a timid man or boy considered childish or unassertive [syn:
sissy, pantywaist, pansy, milksop, Milquetoast]

I stand convicted. I knew it was wrong when I wrote it. I think my word choice was good.

This sounds to me like the perfect setting for a coniving developer to get in and stir the pot in favor of shutting the airport down. This developer, or group, will fuel the arguement and in the meantime secure property rights to develop a parcel of land in the vicinity of SDL. Once the debate rages for a few years they will come in an propose a relocation plan for SDL to their area, this will all be under the guise of improving life in Scotsdale both by limiting noise and providing growth opportunity.

The end result will be a mini-version of Denver's DIA: a few people retire comfortably on the deal and the public gets screwed.

Watch out for that one MikeD.

There is no available land around SDL ... literally. Hence part of the "noise" problem. SDL city council not too long ago ok a developer to build houses less than a 1/2 mile from the arrival end of RWY21. And then they wonder why people complain about noise.

Ophir,
The exact same thing is going on in Concord Ca, with Buchanon Field.

Beware Greeks bearing gifts (that's what the Trojan's told me anyway).
