Things I like about Aviation (or in general..)

I like seeing the view from above.
I like staight and level flying.
I like meeting people that like flying.

I like listening to stories from other pilots about places they have been and things they have done.

I LOVE talking with ATC no matter what it's about. There's just something about hearing my tail number from people that I look up to. I don't know how to explain it.

I like the smell of avgas.

I like flying around with my friends who have never flown in a small plane.

I like the movie "One Six Right".

I like going to the airport to grab lunch and look at planes with friends.

I like going to KOKC and sitting under the final for 17R at night (even more when the E-3s are doing transitions).

I LOVE FLYING!!!

I like eggs. Fried.

I like the fact that I'm actively employed in a career that a lot of people do for a hobby.

I like the fact that I set a goal back in college and have had enough passion, dedication, and perseverance to go forward and attain my goal.

I like the respect I immediately get from people when I tell them I'm a pilot. Deserved or not, it feels good to see someone's eyes light up and say "Oh cool!"

I like that someday when I die, I can say I did something I loved for a living.

I like that I don't have to look at the clock on the wall while working b/c I'm sick of being there. It's hard to explain, but I am getting paid a salary and don't have to dread being there. Time doesn't matter to me when I'm working.

After my day today, these were nice to read.

I like the early morning arrivals from the overnight back into DFW. The sun is just coming up, the air is smooth and everything is quiet (pax and ATC). The trip i'm on right now, on every day 4 we sync up with a SWA jet. We're in almost close formation with them for a few miles until they break off for Love field.

I like flying in the evening or early in the morning in nice calm clear weather.

I like talking to fighter pilots who, in their stories, say they had to "switch to guns" -) or only had guns to use.

I like taking my wife and boys flying and seeing the grins on their faces.

I like watching a 747 take off or land.

I like jetcareers.com

You know we love ya Charlie.

I know. :) It's the women that I can't quite get to love me right.

*shrugs* You should've seen me Friday night. On it like a hungry monkey I was. My kung-fu was strong. :D

Addition: I'm going to add as was just said above me:

I like Jetcareers.com. :rawk:

Things that I like:

Taking off or landing just over cars/trucks who have parked at the ends of runways to watch. I love that people still care to come out to the airport and instill a sense of wonder in their children. Hell, that's how I got hooked. (Thanks, Dad :rawk:)

Being a low-time pilot and getting that occasional greaser in a 150 where I can keep the nose up almost all the way down the runway to the turnoff and then slowly set it down.

Feeling like I'm ahead of the airplane.

Flying and seeing farm land as far as the eye can see. Lotsa options in an emergency.

The ground sinking away after lifting off.

Demonstrating a short field take off to a passenger for the first time.

I love everything about aviation. Most of all is that its one of the only careers where people are their because they love it. Good or bad.

I love takeoffs in the Lear,

I like some of the scenery we get to see that a lot of other people never will.

I like flying just above the clouds where the plane is almost touching the tops and you get to appreciate the speed you are actually doing.

I love shooting a hard approach and nailing it and then greasing the landing.

I love the sunrises and sunsets we get to see.

I like doing stalls during training.

I like the way I feel after a good flight.

I like meeting pilots who still love flying and have fun sharing their experiences.

I like flying with pilots who still see this as enjoyable and even fun at times and are not too high strung.

I love trips where I get to spend a few days in a really cool place.

I love seeing a student solo for the first time.
I love the crisp cool air at 7,000 when its 90-100 down below
I love the sound of a jet engine roaring for takeoff
I love that smell of burnt avgas (burnt jetA smells good, but I'm happy with the smell of avgas)
I love working a long day, going home, writing it in my logbook, and flipping through the pages to relive some of those experiences
I love smooth air
And turbulent air too
Sunny skies are great, but IMC gets me going too...
Twins, singles, jets, doesnt matter to me
I love flying, always have, always will.

I love flying upside down

I love flying in airplanes with round engines

I love flying real airplanes with a wheel in the back

I love flying in formation

I love aerobatics

I love seeing airplanes do things they shouldn't be able to do

I love hearing a controller say "welcome home" when you get back to your home airport after a long day flying

A few weeks ago i was flying into Boston and while we were on approach a small boat that I presume was doing a tour of the harbor stopped directly under the approach path for our runway. People waved as we flew over in the mighty Canuckjet. Not many times you feel cool flying an RJ, but this was pretty neat.

Thought of a couple more.

I loved flight instructing. Just had to leave because there was no money in it.

I love when deviating for buildups (not storms yet) and being told simply "deviations right/left of course approved, report direct XXX". I'll usually disconnect the autopilot and dodge the cumulus clouds by hand. Bonus points if I can drag a wingtip in the cloud but keep a smooth ride.
