The Concept of Jetcareers

My wife gives me crap about being on these forums some times, but when I explain to her about how I make careful decisions with my career, try to learn as much as I can, and meet new people, she realized this website has a lot of significant value.

I am fairly new to the site and I've already received a lot of insight from the guys on here. I am thankful for finding this place. If I something that is needs to be shared, I will be quick to do so on here.

Nah, no haterade towards anyone in particular, just a basic "Remember folks, it's Take A Penny/Leave A Penny" .

One of those "OMG, I hate it when my pilot-husband does..." groups on social media is ablaze this afternoon about online forums and it was a kick in the teeth.

I no longer fly and rarely have anything of value other than maybe an uneducated guess or assumption and still hit up this site daily. Its been 8 years since I joined up. Its a great group of people and Im happy to say Ive made some good friends up in here. With that being said, can someone hook me up with a free first class ticket? ;)

I would like a biz-jet ride to VegasTown.

When we were at www.mindspring.com/~dtaylor the rule was - treat it like you were in Doug's apartment (this was when Doug was an FE) because we didn't have enough pro pilots to help out. I like to think of it as we grew our own, now we have such a huge diverse group it is great to see other help and not wait for Doug to be back on Orlando on a few days off!

Mmmmm Kaley Cuoco.

Mmm.

Uh. What were you talking about?

(p.s., this is a great group, 10/10 would fly with/hang with/hire/drink with A+, even the folks I disagree with on occasion.)

This site stands out from the rest because of the community. I've met a number of people here who I may not have otherwise. And it hasn't been just to get that next gig, it's because there are a ton of great pilots and non pilot members alike. Having barely known one JCer, he crashed at our house while traveling through to a job. No sweat off my back, but paying it forward to help another one out. I haven't started a job from a direct contact from this site, but I've been able to meet people in different segments of industry that have offered great advice and insight to keeping a good path on this crazy career. I've been super grateful for the advice I've either read directly on here, or from the members I've met and talk outside of the forum with.

One JC texted me to see if I would talk to his friend about my new employer before an interview. Not even know who the guy was, we talked for over an hour about the best way to get through it. (He got the job too!). I really enjoy opportunities like that to add another rung on the ladder. THATS what this place needs to be about. And once your high on that ladder, keep lowering it for others. Yes, we are all trying to make that sweet sweet chedda and get the right gig, but that doesn't mean knocking others down a notch will push you up. This site gives opportunities to give a professional courtesy to others. Like that member who had a lot going on at the time, the least we could do was a warm room and a nice breakfast.

A few people I've known before JC and come to find they are on the forum. Others I've met by being where they live or mini JC meet and greets. Like Doug says, it's all about paying it forward and I would add that not taking the same back. Try to give more pennys then you take.

Tacos.

Thanks for the place to hang/learn. I'm on a couple of aviation forums and treat them all like anybody's living room during a get together. Mingle, have a few interesting conversations, learn a thing or too, but, most importantly, don't crap in the bathroom.

Might I suggest the Lav.... It's the place where all the "crap" goes. (also I frequent there the most)
