The Concept of Jetcareers

I love this place! I owe the site a lot for all the help along the way, and finding this job. Now that I am in the process of upgrading I feel like I have a great place to ask questions and get advice.

Congrats! Its been awesome watching your progress over the years.

Part of the reason this thread was started was because of something posted on Facebook that found it's way back to @Derg .
@Seggy are we all now pointless or just some of us?

I have come to the realization recently (exacerbated with some posts on here and on another outlet towards me personally that were COMPLETELY out of line) that I really need to take a step back from here and refocus on some priorities.

How many times have we talked about certain issues, yet some people just don't change their mind concerning it? That is fine, but am I really going to waste precious time at home arguing the same issue argued a few weeks ago or spend time with my family? Hence my pointless statement. It was in a different context than you (and others) assumed.

When we were at www.mindspring.com/~dtaylor the rule was - treat it like you were in Doug's apartment (this was when Doug was an FE) because we didn't have enough pro pilots to help out. I like to think of it as we grew our own, now we have such a huge diverse group it is great to see other help and not wait for Doug to be back on Orlando on a few days off!

Hell in the execpc.com/~taylord days, I was a Beech 1900 FO! :)

@Seggy -

Here's the kicker, bro, that is my world.

I have a life outside of JC as well, but I, like you, have benefited greatly by other people helping me and the site is me "putting a penny" back in the kitty.

I preach to the choir, some listen and heed the advice, many want to argue me down in hopes that I'll relent and just help them justify their bad decisions, but I do know that there are good people out there listening, many silently, that appreciate someone taking the time out of their day to electronically sit down and talk to them.

You've already got the tattoo and have benefitted greatly. You can't just turn your back on the community that helped get you to where you are today because you have "different" priorities.

You have expanded responsibilities and priorities.

Otherwise, you've communicated to me and the rest of the community that the next person that seeks help and guidance is just going to turn their back on the community so what's the point of helping that person if they're not going to reciprocate?

Personally, I feel completely burned and humiliated by your perspective on the issue because I have close friends that take the angle of "Why do you even bother try to help people, Doug? You've made it, why do you care?" and they are laughing their ass off right now.

Bitterness from someone like Aloft, sure. But you? Really?
