Cool man! Stone Temple Pilot's Scott Wieland!
You're dead to me!

First and last live STP show I ever saw was KROQ Weenie Roast 2000. Man I wish I had known how I wouldn't get another chance.

A termination will show up in PRIA. Even non flying related.Or maybe it does and Talon wasn't concerned. From what I remember PRIA is dates of employment and training records.

And can they fire an alcoholic or would that make them liable for treatment

I see nothing wrong with firing an alcoholic, IF he shows up to work unfit to fly. In my opinion, drinking or using drugs is a choice, not a disease. The arguments that it is inherited seem pretty weak, and the social influence argument is much more plausible. That's not to say though that we shouldn't have programs to help people change their behavior, like HIMS. Let's just call it what it is, a choice. A lot of people in this country seem to have a need to find a victim in everything.
I never got it either. Although I'm also old. Fugazi. The Clash. Archers of Loaf. You know, old guy stuff.

The King called out his jet fighters.
He said "you'd better earn your paaaayyy!"
I'd say you had 16 years worth of other chances.
I'm not defending the guy, and showing up to work drunk, especially as a pilot, is inexcusable. But your "opinion" about alcoholism is pretty irrelevant if you're not a doctor. Just like the anti-vaccination crowd. In my opinion, drinking or using drugs is a choice, not a disease.
Ok. I'll refrain from giving an opinion on any subject in which I am not a professional.I'm not defending the guy, and showing up to work drunk, especially as a pilot, is inexcusable. Is it any different from passengers/journalists critiquing pilots when they have no idea what they're talking about?Ok. I'll refrain from giving an opinion on any subject in which I am not a professional.
alcoholism is a disease
Nope. Nora Volkow is a disease.
