Talon pilot arrested for being drunk.

Probably lower.
Don't you mean higher?

If he was .30 at the end of the flight, and he didn't drink anything during the flight, his body would have metabolized some alcohol to LOWER him to .30. Alcohol metabolizes at a rate of 0.015 per hour, regardless of sex, age, weight, of what you drank. How long was the flight?

Nope. My Jump To Conclusions Mat has boxes for "Hair of the Dog", "Lavatory Happy Hour", and "Dasani Vodka Delight" on it. It's hard to imagine even a highly functional alcoholic making it that far without being noticed. A possible exception being the captain had a hard-on to burn the guy, but they passed through too many sets of eyes to get to that point without being noticed imo.

Just guessing but i think he was implying that he was most likely drinking while enroute somehow.

That's what I mean. The captain "suspected" him of drinking. He obviously is full of crap if the FO was boozing on the flight. If he wasn't drinking on the flight, he would've had to be completely blotto. Either way, Manny knew more than he's letting on c

I dunno, I can imagine a scenario where they're on an empty leg, the dude says "Man, I had a rough night, you mind if I go to the back and catch a few winks". An hour later he comes back up drunk as a skunk...

Is it likely? No. But it's possible.

Exactly. I simply can't imagine a guy with a higher than .30 BAC showing up to the airport in any sort of presentable condition.

BAC .30-.50
Symptoms are complete unconsciousness, depressed or absent reflexes, subnormal body temperature, incontinence, and impairment of circulation and respiration.

Death may occur at .37% or higher. BACs of .45% and higher are fatal to nearly all individuals.

Digging way back to my EMT days, if we found anybody with the above symptoms it was an immediate trip to the ER.

Behind Door #2 of course, we have the reporter getting it wrong.

Edit to give an idea of what a .30 really looks like:

Hot damn, if that's the case, hoo boy. If there's not body glitter, cheap perfume, ATM receipts from a specious machine in a gentlemans club and a 0400 visit to a taco truck in a seedy part of town involved, Houston, we have a problem.

I'm not certain I could even get to .3 without dying. It takes practice to get to be that professional...

According to the last article I could find on the subject, the plane never flew. Makes a lot more sense.

Although I still sort of wonder if Capt. Marvel couldn't have given the dude a stern finger-wagging and a "go sit in the corner and think about what you've done". Maybe it wasn't the first time.
