Stop messing with certificates

It’s such an airline pilot thing to develop super strong feelings about random stuff that nobody really cares about.

“I love paper!”
“Blockchain ftw! This is not a debate!”

I don’t care. I’ll tattoo it on my lower back if that’s what the FFA wants. This world is too amazing of a place to develop heartburn over pointless stuff.

Eh, that last bit would be one step too far regarding my bodily autonomy.

Everything is electronic. Passports are sorta-semi digitized, my DL is digitized, all my medical ID cards and records are digitized. Credit cards, debit cards, checking, etc. you get the picture. Having the ability to access certs on your phone adds a level of convenience and modernizes the system a bit. It isn't like we won't get physical copies as well lol. I don't get why this is even remotely offensive to people...

I think it's directly proportional to what other things people have to worry about. Idgaf about this as I have more pressing things to worry about like my job existing with #tarrifpalooza25. Some people must not have a lot to worry about. It's like when an airline changes uniforms and some people act like it's the worst day ever, must have job security if you care about the clip on tie.

It doesn’t make sense to go fully digital when you think about flying being worldwide endeavor.. Sure, if your cheddar comes from domestic ops digital will work probably pretty good, until the FAA’s super modern computer database goes down.. Not looking at you N90….

But just wait until you get to a ramp check in the middle of no where…. Stan…. And the local policia want to get more coin to return your stolen airplane parts… sir, can we see your license? “Yes, please scan my QR code, it’s entirely good to go in the US.”

Maybe a combined digital/paper, but in reality until the rest of the 3rd world countries catches up infrastructure wise, I do believe the easiest is just keep paper going….

Blockchain is not a database. It is a ledger system that cannot be edited after the fact thus causing potential issues. For example with revoked certificates and other things.

You need a proper database so it can be dynamic.

It’s ok. I read over on the intergoogle the quantum computer thingy is going to bust up bytecoin, or something like that.

Toxic exposures and allergic reactions are things too; uniforms can be legitimate safety concerns.

(For example: Our new coats have a habit of bleeding their liners onto my nice crisp white shirt, which is why my new coat is sitting on the rack and I’m wearing my old coat until they tell me otherwise.)

But yes. I call it the hierarchy of bitching. Since things seem to be pretty okay around here, we’re worried about more petty things presently.

I’m all for making the things honest to goodness identity documents and harder to forge or alter.

Actually what I’d really like is one “card” to rule them all, a combination identity document and thing that’ll unlock the doors I need instead of futzing in the snow trying to remember which four digits in which order, but that’s pretty pie in the sky territory since not even my employer can get badge readers everywhere.

What about your job is most likely to make you go all office space copier, and why is it the keypads in LAS?

I’ll give them this, they are VERY secure

Be my Ichiran date soon? :)

IT won’t close. There’ll just be more Europe and multi-day trips. Zero talk of a 350 base in SEA so it will probably be covered by other bases.

But there’s been chat about ‘secondary cities” in Asia for the 330 and the 350 for the large hubs.

A330, ATL-IGM service would be cool.
