Starting 121 career with Sun Country

Just to be clear, I have no idea what the pass rate at Sun Country is, I was just responding to Rodger Wilco's statement that there was a high wash out rate. In my opinion that's not necessarily a reason to go to or remain at a Regional over Sun Country (though it could be if the problem is truly very bad at SY). My opinion is based on the fact that many regionals have high washout rates as well, which my employer certainly did the first year or two we had the EMB-145.

That said I'm going to have to disagree with you about OO. At the regionals there tends to be very little job security (see Comair, ACA, ASA, Skyway, Regions Air, etc.). Someone who is actually at OO might know better, but it seems to me that the lack of union representation could be a problem as well. Couldn't SkyWest, for example, create an Alter Ego? That's something most union contracts prohibit and that would certainly put an end to any job security, and just one of the many disadvantages of being non-union.

I don't disagree, I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek. Nevertheless, one thing that seems certain is the bottom-feeders never seem to go away. Although it's a good point that they often morph into something else.

Cockroaches and Mesa Airlines.

So I interviewed on a whim and got a class date for March 2. Buuuuut...I'm hearing I can get better offers elsewhere.

If you sit in msp too long that can happen. True story.

"No, im, im not trying to interview or move to MSP. No really. No i dont care."

So many options right now. Degree? Wanting/willing to move? It's a good time at SY but at ORD you have a lot of other options. What about Spirit?

For those familiar with MSP, is transferring between the Humphrey and Lindbergh Terminals difficult when it comes to commuting? The MSP airport website doesn't specify if one must to go through security when transferring terminals.

I'm currently looking into VA funded B737 type training, does getting this type of training on one's own look unfavorably to airline interviewers?

Difficult, no. Time consuming, yes. Even from the G/C bridge getting to the train in T1 is a labarynthian mess of escalators and hallways. Depending on your timing there’s a potential 10 minute wait for the next train. Then once you get to T2 you have to schlep through the parking garage before you get to the terminal proper. Never had a line at T2 KCM but going Humphrey to Lindbergh if the bridge checkpoint is closed you have to take the tram through the parking ramp basement then maneuver your way to the KCM in baggage. I never timed it, but casually walking it can easily take 30 minutes or more depending on the train(s).

KCM on both sides is a bit of a hike from the other checkpoints, although this might get better when construction is done in T2? At any rate, for the moment, if when you get "randomed" you will lose another 10+ minutes.

Yes, able to, and currently getting apps out to everywhere else. I basically sent a "thanks but no thanks" note this week to SY.

This is the tip of the iceberg of how much of an absolute maze/mess navigating MSP airport is until you've done it for about 3-6 months.

Navigating MSP really isn't that hard, but it takes 3-6 months of walking a half mile just to find a coffee shop to desensitize yourself to the fact that nothing is near by, no matter where you are in that airport.

It's fine, just use the walkways for their stated purpose. Walking. The name is descriptive.

And you may, in fact, get groped when you appear in your coat and hat at that coffee shop.
