spoilers on go around- survey

He was just junior to me and wanted me out of his way I think! :)

Citations without FADEC use a 85% N2 switch which will auto stow the spoilers no matter what else is happening. The 85% switch also starts pre-pressurization. Need to recycle the switch to deploy spoilers, and have WOW in ground mode. FADEC airplanes use TLA to coincide with N2 at 85%. The 650(III), 750(X) and 680(Sovereign), are different because they use a handle for speedbrakes with full travel being ground spoilers. Those airplanes might try to retract spoilers if WOW input is lost, I forget. I don't think the spoilers would retract in a bounce on any of the airplanes with spoiler switches.

Oops I just read the part when you asked about AUTO ground spoilers which no Citations have. Duh

And Doug wonders why I like my cable controlled airplane....

At Southernjets, you are required on the the 88/90 to LOOK at the handle to see that it is back, and staying back, before you say "spoilers up". Just hearing the sound of the handle is not enough.

I still do that on the Boeing. Old habits die hard! (or it's just the Douglas calling to me again through this bid...)

...
Although, I might be back. The damned FO almost got me convinced to bid MSP MD90 captain.

Might be a good idea to move out of International while it's still relatively enjoyable, then you can look forward to going back International as a Captain down the road.

For long range job planning I kind of like to think that 4 - 5 years in a position is about max. First year or two really learning the job, a couple more years or so of feeling competent+, then when you get bored/frustrated with the little things about that particular position, move on to the next challenge and start the process over. Keep it fresh, keep yourself engaged, and enjoy your work (as sacrilegious as that may sound!).

These are good. Again, to stay on topic, the question is:

If a [your part 25 aircraft type] lands and the speedbrakes deploy automatically, and subsequently bounces into the air - and the pilot advances power - and the airplane touches down again, will the speedbrakes deploy again automatically?

747s (Classics and 400s)

Ways the ground spoilers deploy:

1) Armed in the air and the aircraft touches down
2) Thrust Levers 1 or 3 at idle and 2 or 4 in idle reverse

How they close on the go around:

Thrust levers 1 or 3 advance above idle

Subsequent touchdown, if the handle isn't armed, they deploy when 1 or 3 is idle and 2 or 4 is idle reverse.

Have a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you too. Do they disarm with the throttle push after initial deployment on touchdown, or do they stay armed?

The handle disarms, but the deployment will still be done via the TR lever.

I guess that'd be a semi-automatic deployment.

So if you pull the reversers, the boards come with them?

So if you pull the reversers, the boards come with them?

That's my elementary understanding of the system. But only the even ones, so if you symmetrical reversing with an engine, or engines, out, you'll still have that system. (since the Auto deploy won't work on TO, that's the primary method of activation on a RTO).

And to prevent pushing the power up with the GROUND spoilers up, they stow when the odd TLs are advanced.

Same system that was on the classic, so since the late 60's the same system has been in use.
