Special issuance for first class medical?

I'm currently on medical leave from my airline after being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. I will be undergoing a genetics exam soon to determine if it is Beckers or Limp Girdle. My question is if I would still be able to hold a first class medical with a restriction imposed on it? Or will I even be able to hold any class medical? Thank you for your help.

You will have to forward all of the records to the FAA. If it is stable and there is no significant weakness, they will consider a time limited medical certificate (Special Issuance).
