Sounds a little "grim" for Comair

You are right, it is easier for me to say because I'm not facing the street in the same manner that the Comair bubba's are.

However it doesn't change the fact that it is true.

Agree. Less regionals are a good thing, but if you're truly getting rid of them all, the responsible thing is to do it slowly with plenty of warning and potential for upward movement for those affected. Restoring flying to mainline is important, but these are good people trying to provide for their families. Not everyone at the regionals is sitting on first year pay and able to go flip burgers for roughly the same amount of money.

Also, if the Comair flying left over goes to a bottom feeder, this is not progress. While we are all bottom feeders to an extent, I'd say the biggest risk for being at the regionals is the opportunity for replacing entire companies with lower paying new companies composed almost completely of new hires. This is the biggest risk to anyone trying to make a career in aviation. Ask Trans states pilots. Ask pre-compass Avro and Saab drivers at Mesaba.

I ran into a Shuttke Amurika (which by the way is a douchy name for an airline) crew yesterday in Dulles. They were trying to deadhead to Montreal but were having issues getting seat assignments. I asked them a few questions about how things were going over there. Each answer was worse than the last prompting yet another question from me.
 
I deleted the original post because it would take further explaining, plus I'm to lazy to type it all out on my iphone before the van picks us up...

So, why shouldn't the bottom feeder airlines with the worst contracts fall on their swords instead of the better places like Comair?

Because a quick upgrade is all that matters.

Same reason that the colgan pilots aren't going with their airplanes, because the Republic MEC said they weren't willing to give up a single upgrade slot that their pilots "deserved"

Wow, I said this exact thing. And then equated it to employees being a commodity like motor oil. And I posted to let employees know that this is all they are - so be prepared. I caught a ration of S...though for saying it.
 
Am I missing something or wouldn't it be stupid on Deltas part to give the 700/900's to •jet if they could just do swaps with them to take 200's out of the system?

Poor Comair dudes. I guess the aviation gods determined they hadnt paid enough dues. Maybe they can pay more dues at the bottom of somebodies seniority list. I would be burning my pilot certificates, no doubt.

No Gods were involved, unless you mean Our Betters, the Gods of Finance. This was purely a financial decision. Any regional, once established, becomes a liability, because all of the sudden there are all these guys making *gasp* a living wage and not hating their lives. That's Expensive, relatively speaking.

It'll happen to the next "go-to" regional, and the one after that, and the one after that. And there will always be a long line of foolish children who've just "graduated" from pretend-colleges who are sure that This Time It Will Be Different.
