Skywest Questions

Pilots getting disciplined by being written up, suspended and or fired for handing out water bottles too?
Someone, somewhere, has a copy of the Great Water Bottle Memo of, like, 2015(?) in which we were told that we were not allowed to drink any of the ship's water bottles at all. This lasted for a day or so before the Company reversed themselves.

I haven't heard of any pilot being disciplined for doing so. I hope not. Having a water bottle handy can boost a crew's morale for those long days of flying eight hours on the ERJ, or doing six legs in 110°F heat at PHX in the summer. I have noticed lately FAs not handing out waters, and I'm so fed up with it that I will write RAVEs complimenting FAs on exceptional quality and customer service if they do. If FAs are taking care of crew, they are most likely taking care of customers/passengers in the back.

If a jumpseater is on board, I like to offer them water if I happen to see them board (sometimes I do not, as they sneak on board). I have noticed Spirit FAs doing this on every flight, and I use them often, so I always wondered whether it was done out of kindness or if it is SOP for them. In any case, it has made a positive impression on me, I believe that all airline crews should take care of each other. We all are screwed and the losers if we do not.

That is unbelievably bad taste of them to do so.

I remember that! I think you could drink water from the bottles, but you had to use a cup, and the FA would refill it as requested. Practically impossible with a cockpit door! Don’t even think it lasted a day.

I think some bean counter from one of our partners saw that crew took the same water bottles as the passengers did. They did some fancy accounting and figured they’d save $xx amount of crews would stop “stealing” water which was meant for the paying pax. So someone decided to make a memo without thinking about it.

I’ve heard it’s a still a rule we aren’t suppose to take extra water off the plane and they’ve told some FA’s this. Some are vindictive and will write up anyone for any little thing and I heard an FA got fired for taking water or something.

You're being very nice when you say that, that way.

I wrote a discussion post on it in one of my classes, I can't remember which one—I swear I have a copy of it here somewhere, because certain things you just save because you cannot force your brain to believe what your eyes are reporting—and the response of the cadre was "they did what? are they really that dumb?"

Nah, it was just mean. And I don't like mean. Or maybe mean-spirited is the right way to describe it, but yeah.

It looks like Pepperidge Farm remembers!
Eidetic memory.

Like Archie Goodwin being told to report verbatim.

Hello broken culture (sorry, I can't think of any other way to describe it).

Haha yes I am :DI have a feeling that I would be banned if I posted what I truly feel about that policy.

Snag some lemon and lime wedges from the galley and add them to the bottle. Tastes better and the vitamin C is good for you.

Well this snow storm really screwed me out of not getting called in. Had to fly to FWA and back the other day. Didn’t get called in today though just have to make it through the last 2 days of this month. Then back to a line in December :(

ExpressJet sold for $70MM.

So what’s the story with the YWG customs issue? I remember a year ago we had the same problem because a crewmember got off to use the bathroom but I hadn’t heard anything lately. Of course my first trip of the year has a flight to YWG
