Skywest Questions

I'm not so sure I buy this. Almost everyone I talk to is receptive to the idea of a union. The senior peeps make up a very small percentage of the company today. If there were a drive today I think it would pass easily.

Is the drive still continuing, even with the passage of this new "contract"?

Disagree. The intent is for them to get butts in the right seat, as evidenced by the larger percentage and dollar amount the FOs are getting out of this deal. I bet the same FOs that voted for it will complain when they upgrade and it doesn’t benefit them as much. Sadly there is a lot of “this benefits ME and that’s all I care about” attitude.
Not there anymore, but it's "wins for everyone or no deal," and I would have voted no were I still on the property.

I'd prefer to see SAPA stop aiding and abetting the divide-and-rule masterfully played by HDQ.

There's something to be said for trying to leave a place better than you found it, even if it is a stepping stone.
The place was a stepping stone for me.

(A six-year stepping stone - aroo?)

So, very much this - if you aren't actively trying to improve where you presently work then I really don't look at you favorably.

This is all easier said than done. You know our group just as well as I do. They can't even get people interested on the internet to submit their name to ALPA that they're interested....let alone start a drive in base at your domicile...

This fact right here is what unnerves me most of all. I shared the sign-up link for ALPA as well as for the online group with all my buds and only a single person joined! The other 20 people in the group chat outright dismissed it or ignored my plea for help. This pilot group simply doesn’t care.... Going to take a monumental effort to campaign for ALPA. I suspect that this is why the drive hasn’t come to light yet, those in the know know that there is discontent but not enough to guarantee a yes vote.

They also cannot fly a go-around apparently.

I wish alpa national would get behind a hire union only at the major level (military excluded). This is one of the few insturies where you can be a non union guy an move up. Any other industry out there they rate non union guys on a job just slightly above a scab. That's where skywest is to me, take jobs from the union side of Inc and dont give 2 s**ts. Just above a scab....

Were you at Skywest before Allegiant and your elevation to Atlanta Center? Also, don't start that crap here again about non-union pilots being tantamount to almost being scabs. Webster's definition only allowed!

They prolly ought to organize at SKW, but I'm not going that far; there are some real gems, even amongst the lifer crowd, who fly safely day in, day out and are pleasures to work with, and support ALPA.

Seriously, no love for Inc., and equally low regard to those who rolled over and indifferently took their B.S., but come on.

Nope the other side of Inc that got the short end of the stick so that your side would flourish. Ok so not scabs but, not pro union??so....?

From webster's:
3a : a contemptible person
b(1) : a worker who refuses to join a labor union

I know they brew that koolaid strong there in SGU. But it's hard to claim innocence when the union (xjt) side of Inc had over 4000 pilots 4 years ago while the non union side had 1200 (skw). Now the union side has 800 pilots and the non union side has 4600. So cry me a river every gain in your agreement has been on the backs of the union pilots on the other side of the company.
