Skywest Questions

That DFW rumors has been around for awhile.

I thought the DFW rumor was built on the rumor of all the AA CRJ-900 rumors? Also, created the PHX rapid expansion rumor? Which obviously didn't happen with the big purchase of 175's.

DAL was rumored 175 for the AS flying, I think?

Either way, all rumors. I could see OKC happening before any Dallas.

How long would it take to get into FAT?

It looked like it was awarded to someone shortly after their training (when I checked several months ago). It doesn't look like anyone more junior has gone into it recently, though. Trying to get a feel for how long the waiting list is.

While I appreciate the response, I referenced that website indirectly in my post.

Its a good question. Really it is hard to give an accurate answer. I checked SWOL and the only person awarded FAT for April was a captain. I noticed on the standing bid list there are people with 3700#'s trying to get in. However there isn't any way that I know of to see if they have been trying to get in for the 10-12 months they have been at SkyWest or if they just put in the bid and are waiting for an opening. Still the most senior person trying to get into FAT has less than a year on the property. From what I could tell.

26 FOs on the transfer list for a base with only 32 crews. But, most of those also have other domiciles on their list and only 1 or 2 have FAT as their first preference so even if the others got there, they would still be trying to transfer out. Not sure how many FAT FOs are looking to transfer out which would also affect how long it takes to get in.

It really isn’t predictable and anyone’s guess is just that. Couple months before I got hired guys we’re getting PHX out of training. I had to wait a year to get into PHX so the old “past performance is not an indicator of future success” holds true.

I bet recruiting is still saying you can get SLC on the CRJ side as an FO. The numbers are also skewed to help them for recruiting because of the DMA flying (which just got cut in half and guys back to normal bidding). In reality nobody has been transfered in since August and it appears nobody will be getting in with the way the flying has been going. I wonder what people think though in the school house. A couple months and they'll be back home....

Really can't trust anything. When I was new DEN was shrinking from the loss of 700's and SFO looked doomed. 6 months later DEN was growing from adding more 200's. Who really knows, hope for the best expect the worst. You'll probably be okay right in the middle.

Thanks for the info.

This and @BEEF SUPREME 's post is exactly the information I was looking for. Thanks to both of you!

Does atl have 900' 700 and 200's? What is the predominant airframe they there?
200 only

I know we have flying on the other airframe because I'm doing LNK-ATL on the 700 this trip. It's still growing so maybe over time the 7/900 flying will start. I'm pretty sure Endeavor got a large chunk of the 900 ATL flying after Delta gave them the XJ birds.

The XJ birds, Have always been at 9E since 9E/9L/XJ merged. You mean the EV birds, right?

XJ is mesaba.

I put XJ for ExpressJet, not their airline code. My bad. I was talking about the 900's that Endeavor got after ExpressJet announced they aren't flying Delta anymore. I don't know who owns them? I guess I should have worded it the ExpressJet 900 flying probably went to Endeavor.

Don’t tease me like that with OKC haha. I heard the DFW base would essentially be the current ORD AA flying getting pushed to Dallas because of Envoy expanding the 175 presence in ORD.

They, along with the 3 CRJ-700s that went from ExpressJet to Endeavor are owned by Delta.

According to the OKC paper (I don’t have link at moment, a few months back) tax incentive for SKW was at 337 based. 100 MX leaves 237/ 3 crew on -200 / 6 crews per airframe = 13.16 aircraft per night.

I'm sorta surprised that anyone pays any attention to a regional airline pilot recruiter at present. It's a little Hunger Games for getting bodies in the door, and they'll say whatever it takes to make it so.

True words. This is my philosophy in aviation and so far it has worked pretty well. Based at home would be great. Commuting to reserve in ORD was expected. Ended up commuting to reserve in BOI and now SAN which are pretty good places if for me if must commute to reserve.

A lot of OKC flying I do is 7/900. Were those numbers just for -200?

Speaking of which I'm overnighting in OKC tomorrow and 4 times next month. Can't complain, I like the area.
