Skywest Questions

TUS is a SMALL base. We're talking like 13 CAs and 13 FOs. So if/when you get based there you'll be on the bottom forever. They fly 200s and 700s out of TUS. TUS is a maintenance base so you'll have early show times and late releases. Similar to COS in nature.
Thanks for the info. How about PHX? I have family up there that could make sitting reserve easier until I can move up there....which is kind of my plan anyway.

No problem. Phoenix is really senior. At the MOMENT no growth. It's been that way for years really... My roommate from new hire ground school just got awarded PHX after being here a year.

I figured that. Despite everyone complaining about the heat, they sure do seem to want to live/work there, even outside the aviation industry. Maybe SWA or AA (I think they still have a base there) will hire some of the senior dudes and make some room. Fingers crossed.

What are the most common new hire bases currently?

MSP and ORD. MSP being most junior. After a few months it looks like COS DEN SFO IAH and even SLC become options. By the time you've been here a year you can have pretty much any base you want minus possibly PHX and TUS. This is the CRJ side of the house. Not sure of the E175 side of things. That is all very subject to change here in a matter of months I think though.

That sounds hideous! :)

Drunk on a Wednesday, count me in!

Spoken like an airline pilot! See, there are these social events that happen in peoples' backyards or parks on a Saturday or Sunday, you might call it day 2 or 3, that your spouse wants you to attend occasionally so that people actually believe them when they say that they're married... to a real person. ;)

I'm unable to restrict my career based upon the availability of someone who works at Pottery Barn.

Besides, a lot of my friends aren't in the airline business and fully understand my lack of "traditional availability. They wouldn't be friends if they didn't. :)

But I bet they know who to call if they need help moving a couch at 10 AM on a Tuesday!

That's great that there are people out there that have no problem working the weekend. I wish there were more of you!!

ORD 175 has 82 FO reserve lines this month. Yeah for another month off....
March? Or are you somehow seeing April?

I ended up calling crew support basically begging for something since it's pushing two months since I've touched a plane. Got the "you just have to pick up open time on your days off". Tried the very next day the instant a trip got posted (on my days off, for once) only to be told it had already been given to a reserve. Recurrent is going to be fun with 200 hours in type...

On the bright side, recurrent will be AQP this time around. Funny part is they are telling new hires in the 175 they'll sit reserve 3 months max.....Child Please, they need to stop fibbing and tell it like it is!

Less lines in April than March, thought flying was supposed to start picking up???

CRJ...Denver...LCR.....best kept secret on the line.

Until now. Of course there are likely no reserve pilots in Denver.....

Looks like I'm either going to have to bid good paying trips with lots of days off, including weekends, or bad paying trips so I don't have weekends off.

More days off including weekends, or weekdays off but less days off? It's like Sophie's Choice...

Have I mentioned I hate weekends off?

@GaTechKid you can transfer to COS and I'll work your weekends. ;)
