Skywest Questions

1. skywest destroys ASA
2. ASA becomes Xjet
3. Xjet loses DL flying and closing everything in ATL
4. 1 week later Skywest announces ATL base opening.

A base with 6 RSV pilots. If you call that a base.

OO didn't pull the contract... Big Daddy D did. It's just the regional shuffle and from what I understand OO was able to negotiate a decent amount of planes to be transferred over to the AA operation under the XJT name.

On this one I know exactly what you are insinuating, but it's not there. The only way to get COMAIRed is by the big Daddy not by the little OO.

Not sure if you meant to come off as "mud slinging," but please don't make this thread about OO destroying ASA/XJT. You can head over to APC for that. Only thing we destroyed is a real pay package that has hurt the overall regional industry.

i get that there are bad apples in each group and you can't avoid that. I am in agreement with you that the mainline partner makes the decisions.

disclaimer, this is my opinion and mine alone. From my time at compass it was a pretty close tie between the skywest and envoy pilot groups of seeing which wanted another pilot group to fail the most. When we first started SLC service OO pilots would flip us off, accuse us of stealing their flying, etc. As if we had anything to do with SJIs decision to shift the flying. Outside of that, most OO pilots I've encountered have been awesome people. It's not excused because we all saw the stories of the Xjet pilots wrongly denying OO pilots jumpseats after the announcement. For example, it doesn't help the cause when you have pilots posting:
In the words of Rod Serling: Submitted for your approval:

The 100 plane master plan:

1. 100 Expressjet planes +/- released back to Delta

2. Skywest immediately picks up the Delta planes and the contracts to fly them.

3. All eligible Skywest pilots offered immediate upgrade to captain. Only about 150 can do it/ or want to do it.

4. 400 more captains needed to fly the planes.

5. Expressjet pilots allowed to come to Skywest at the bottom of the list and 500 are able to immediately bid and hold captain.

6. Expressjet pilots are given their longevity pay.

In a short period of time Expressjet loses 100 and Skywest gains 100 planes. The problem of no remaining pilots being captain qualified is eliminated. Longevity pay makes Expressjet pilots coming over reasonably happy.

Too bad Delta stepped in the way and sent the planes elsewhere.

Yeah it boils my blood to hear that OO guys would flip you off. Very immature, but those guys are probably stuck at OO and have nothing to look forward to. I can say this though any regional who thinks or wants another airline to fail is ignorant as everything changes at a moments notice.

In SLC? If their elder saw them do that they'd be in a world of heck. :P

That sucks that stuff like that happened. SkyWest does have a few bad apples, prolly more than most based off the size of the company (~4500 pilots). However, I have been flipped off by compass pilots in LAX when they started to take over out there.

Make no mistake, I want to murder the competition by drowning them in the bathtub. I assume that this is true of every pilot that works at every other airline as well.

Ain't personal. We surely do not have a monopoly on good business practices; even GeauxJets probably does something that we could learn from.

The old Mesaba guys will tell you the same thing, when the XJ 900s ventured out to SLC, they got the same treatment by the MAF. Not really surprising to be honest with you.

I could respect OO for being non-union if they hadn't just undercut the entire progress of betting contracts with the turd they just voted in. But now, just shows what's a joke the place really is. You are all welcome on my jumpseat, but don't be surprised if I give you a good natured ribbing about working where you do

Don't be surprised if my response is "K" and I go back to looking out the window.

Yea I've heard about that then too. Sucks, but like I said it's not just OO pulling shenanigans like that. As for ribbing, bring it on:pbut I ain't a member of the MAF anymore. I retired :)
