SkyWest Pay Proposal Out

What message does it send mgmt by voting no on this, considering 66% of the pilot group did not vote for representation? What incentive do they have to rework it and come back with something better?

Merit - contrary to your omnipotent view, our management cannot impose its will on something like this. It has been proven before, but I guess you wouldn't know that since you don't actually work here.

Bike, dont kid yourself. Your pilot group has no legal protections via a CBA. Your management can impose their will on you within the scope of US labor law and the FAA's work rules.

If push came to shove, your pilot group legally would not win.

Come back to reality.

Listen. We had this sham of a deal shoved down our throats a couple years back about the alcohol policy. Which would be no different than a pay agreement. In one our pilot group's most pathetic notes in history, we raised holy hell about the change. Management retracted when we called them out about unilaterally changing policy. We won. We will again if comes down to it.

Even SkyWest's own lawyers are saying it must be voted on. Again, stop pretending to shed light on something you do not have first hand knowledge about.

Today, I make over $1 more per hour as a 50 seat RJ Captain at ExpressJet than I would if I were a EMB-175/195 Captain at SkyWest in 2010. Back to the drawing board guys.

Bragging? Absolutely not. I just hope that bringing up this fact will encourage the SkyWest pilots to realize this is not an acceptable pay proposal. I'm not sure how much leverage you have though SAPA, but hopefully you can negotiate something better.

Here are some of my questions, though.

If you guys vote no, and the company enforces it anyway, what legal avenues does your pilot group have to pursue?

If, somehow, your pilot group sues your company over this (which I'm not sure where the money would come from, since SAPA is funded by Skywest management...so it'd be Skywest management suing themselves), where is the money going to come from?

Further, what legal precedent would you be working under to have your vote be enforceable? Or in other words, what prevents your vote from being a paper tiger?

You SAY they'll back down and work with you guys, and they might have in the past; but what legally FORCES them to do so? I put my allegiance in lawyers and litigation over nice guys and managers that care, because when push comes to shove you are working for a corporation that views you as a cost to be minimized vs. an asset to be maximized.

John, I honestly can't answer each question with 100% accuracy. None of us can. We can only speculate based on a few facts.

- We have beaten them before
- We indeed have no contract
- Management has snuck one (or two) past us before
- Our apathetic pilot group is very split

While nobody can 100% forecast the outcome of this one, this guy at least is not going down without a fight.

See now this is interesting to me, because you say that you have "beaten" them before. With what? Sticks? Stones? Begging? A contract? Lawyers?

Only two of those things really work, and you don't have them.

I wish you luck my friend. I hope somebody can do SOMETHING over there before Skywest takes everybodies flying while doing it for less money. First it was ASA, now it's Skywest. Who's it gonna be tomorrow?

LOL!

"SkyWest's own lawyers" want you to feel important. Legally SkyWest management doesn't have to take any of your SAPA bull####. You are not protected by a CBA which ultimately becomes law once enacted.

I'll say it again so take off your DC's. Your pilot group has zero power legally speaking. WTF are you dude? A management plant? You're only protected by US labor law and the FARs.

I thought it was the general consensus here at JC that 'flying' is not owned. Especially 'regional' flying. I may not like it, but is business and reality.

I am all for giving the Skyway guys jobs and their current years of service pay right now. But I don't run SkyWest now do I?

And like I said, we have beaten them before on an incredibly asinine issue. It is fact. Please stop reading past it.

Oh well, time to get the resume polished up I am growing tired of this game. Tired of apologizing for a lazy & apathetic pilot group. Collectively, we voted no for legal representation and this is what we get. Morons.

Thanks Mr. Obvious.

Do they actaully think this thing is going to pass or are there far more koolaid drinkers there than I though?

I would even say that the 175 rates are there as a carrot.

Common guys, as soon as we vote yes we'll be getting 200 canyon blue E-175s

When has SKYW ever said they were getting 175/195's, and if so, for what flying?
