Silver Airways Bankrupt

Sorta a garbage thing to say considering most of the people there had nothing to do with Gulfstream. Sorta like saying good riddance to any of the connections carriers that had those programs.
Not really, I expressed sentiment for their current employees and it’s terrible that they treated them this way….

But the damage companies like this did to the airline industry coupled with the stigma they put in the minds of the public did way more harm

That really was a long time ago. I bet most of the people at Silver were in elementary school when gulfstream was doing its thing. I dont believe silver had anything to do with it other than picking up the carcass of the dead airline. Please correct me if I am wrong however.

You’re probably right but as someone who felt the effects of the Gulfstream PtP scheme I could be projecting

Regardless I flew with a CA that was at Silver years ago…nice guy and good pilot…he did have some crazy stories though

Sorry for the Silver pilots affected by this.

Watching those Gulfstream videos, I have to ask. What year did tailoring uniform shirts break through? I was doing it almost my entire career, before it was "YouTube cool." Some of those shirts look like "hey I know you weigh 162 lbs, but this XL should fit, here ya go."

Edited to add: Saw a guy I worked with in our Human Factors Department at XJT. Fantastic guy and a great pilot.

Agreed. I flew with about half the guys in that Gulfstream video. They had a program to Pinnacle, so they mostly went that way. Awesome guys and all now at bigger/better places.

You’re forgetting the era. Remember the style was everything baggy. The NBA shorts were down past the knees and the Adam Sandler style was in everywhere.

As a FO making $22K a year with a wife and baby at home it felt extravagant getting my jacket tailored. Shirts? Yeah, that’s wasn’t gonna happen lol

I just flew on them over Memorial Day. No issues at all. I loved using them for intra-Florida travel. I guess I better get used to I-75, I-10, etc again.
I enjoyed them, especially being able to get United miles. I flew for them back when they just got the Saabs. Sadly, their cancellations the past several months left me high and dry enough times that I just started buying tickets on Spirit. The Big Front Seat was still usually cheaper than Southwest.

Except they did - and Brightline is doing well, despite #floridaman constantly driving around the gates and getting splattered by their trains. Some Avgeeks are speculating that this is what finally did them in.
That was somewhat cheeky on my part. Somewhat.

As much fun as I had driving a full 321 between TPA and FLL, it seemed incredibly silly.
