Seniority List Totals?

It will happen but not anytime soon. When ICAO starts to talk about it then I would sense the U.S. won't be far behind this time around.

Then I will riot Ferguson style...

Not any time soon. But probably about when ICAO start's to talk about it.

Haha, that's like me saying NYC is overrated. And like I said earlier most guys I fly with that want one of the big 3 usually do so because: 1. Faster upgrade 2. Wide bodies 3. A specific base. How is that any different?

Ok, let us take a moment and look at what you wrote here. Please understand I am not trying to be an ass, I just think you are being guided VERY wrongly by the Captains you are flying with.

How can one be concerned about a 'fast upgrade' if they also don't want to be based in NYC (where the junior captains usually are)? It is contradicting thoughts and it doesn't allow folks to see the big picture of it is hard to get hired at a legacy, don't think it will happen automatically like it is happening at fee for departure carriers. You and the Captains you fly with should have your applications in at EVERY legacy. No excuses (the flow can go away tomorrow) if you don't have them there.

As @jynxyjoe as my witness when I was a brand spanking new Captain on the Beech 1900 and a FO asked, 'So Mark, where do you want to go after Colgan?' I QUICKLY responded the first legacy carrier that will hire me.

I have run into a lot of ExpressJet and Skywest Pilots who could have had a chance to go to Continental in 2005 but didn't because, 'I don't want to be commuting for the rest of my career to IAH, EWR, or CLE'. Well, those folks would now be 737 Captains in LAX. Extraordinarily shortsighted on their part.

Don't let that be you.

I've commuted err'where.

The only place that's a pain in the butt to commute to is Florida to anywhere because of the heavy amount of people commuting in and out.

However, like the Wookiee said, bases come, go, expand and contract. If I had a dollar for every CVG, DFW, MEM, BOS, PDX (the list goes on and on) that were quick to give the "suck it up and move to base, son) speeches that are now commuting, I'd be a millionaire.

Remember the ExpressJet guys on here talking about how they didn't want to go to Continental because "The ExpressJet branded operation is GOING to work and I will be based an hours drive away as I live right by LAX, I don't want to commute to EWR the rest of my career, I get weekends off, and a Christmas vacation week?"

Yeah, move up the food chain folks. If you are a newly minted Regional FO, the day you meet the mins at United, Delta, Alaska, Hawaiian, Spirit, Southwest, JetBlue or American APPLY at everyone and let the chips fall as they may.

Eh by then you'll probably realize you're going to live to 80 easily and it'll make more sense.

My daughter is supposedly going to live to 140 - 160, she ain't retiring at 67 either. Unless she becomes a lotto winner and that would mean shr played, and that means I and thr public school system failed her in math.

This. As soon as I can get a call, and hopefully an offer, I'm out. If you want to move on, don't be overly picky. It's a long career and betting it on getting a call from one company in particular seems like you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Things are moving.

How long is your commitment to the SchoolHouse?

2-5 years.

Ideally, I'd love to make PCP (supposedly they are looking at moving me to that at the year mark), do that until the 3-4 year point then go to the big bus for at least a bit then shift over to the left seat.

We'll see!

I fly from the left seat several times a month in the sim, haha. (particularly with the more frequent FO/FO newhire pairings these days)

SFA? :)

Come fly skipper while you still have your youth and your hair.

The fabric on the left seat runs smooth.

That's actually my theory on Douchenozzel over at Quartz. Junior FO somewhere, looking for a quick way to get rid of basically every pilot on every seniority list.

Unfortunately, unless he's writing under a pseudonym, there's only one name that pops on the FAA Airman Database, and based on age, it probably isn't him.
