See ya\'ll later

Me and Emily won't be around for a while, we're hopping on a plane to Europe early this evening and won't be back until later in May. We're hitting up London later this evening, then we're off to Paris, Vienna and a few places in Italy to see some of Emily's family (on one side of Emily's family she's only like 3rd generation American, so she's still got a lot of family over there).

Once we get back from that I'm driving to Skymates in Texas, then graduating from Western Michigan in December. After that we're making a move to Utah so Emily can try her hand at ski instructing (while I flight instructor...we're going to be on welfare I think). A few people have known about it, but I figure Emily just made it public on pilotfamilies.com so I might as well post something up here about it.

Re: See ya\'ll later

If you're in Paris in June, let me know. I'll be there from around the 10th of June until the 20th.

And yes, I will be staying at the Paris Hilton. I wonder if the hotel's guest list is longer than hers.

And a room there costs 280 Euros a night. I wonder which is more expensive -- a night at the hotel or a night with her.

Re: See ya\'ll later

Sweet! Hope you guys have fun in Europe. Nessa and I plan to make it there eventually. Bring me back a luger from Austria.

[/ QUOTE ]holy cow Tony - 280/night? that's just tooo much!! try the Novotel Tour Eiffel (crew hotel)...if anything, we could help get you a better rate by going with for the weekend & getting you a discount!*

I'm going for work so they handled the booking. I'm kind of like, you know, we're getting screwed but then it is business travel so they do shaft us pretty hard. The thing is, the Paris Air Show is going on so of course hotels are jacking up the prices of their rooms, and can you blame them? Capitalism at work!

I have no problem with people crashing with me if they are in Paris when I'm there. None at all. Just remember that I'm working so that means I may not be able to hang out much!

Oh no! All the way until the end of MAY? Except for a weekend in Vegas with some crazy people, Nessa and I haven't gone anywhere other than work, home (be it ours or our parents') and maybe a restaurant in five years. We were planning on going to Germany this year, but with the whole kid thing......

Re: See ya\'ll later

hey.. can't blame it on Gavin! it's his parents that got all hot and bothered...hahaha
grin.gif

you guys should start traveling with him! even if it's for a daytrip.. get him used to traveling so you'll be able to take him anywhere in 2-3 years!!

Re: See ya\'ll later

When he gets older, that'll probably be essential. Especialy since I'll probably be somewhere where they'll have to drive a couple of hours to see me.

Besides, Gavin is a convenient excuse for everything.

Re: See ya\'ll later

Enjoy it ... I loved Paris, look forward to sharing it with my wife one day ... would love to go to Vienna ... have a cousin who's flying to Vienna tomorrow for a month.

Prague's a nice city to visit as well. Have fun in Italy, Amy's always wanted to visit.

I may be going back to Germany for a month again, in the fall. Frankfurt area.

Re: See ya\'ll later

Just had an Italian guy move into the crashpad. He'll be gone before you get here, John, but I sure could use Emily's help translating.

Paris smells, the keyboards are whack, and I do not speak French. Come on Vienna!

[/ QUOTE ]

The keyboards are whack all over Europe, but you eventually get used to it. There are some internet cafes that advertise "American style keyboards" in some of the more popular areas.

Re: See ya\'ll later

The metro stations in Paris did seem to smell like piss ... the majority of them.

I have a cousin in Vienna right now ... he's there until the latter part of May.

Re: See ya\'ll later

I haven't been in a metro station anywhere that doesn't smell like piss! Except in Switzerland, those were fairly nose-friendly.
