I interviewed today and received an offer for a class date in Aug. First of all I'd have to say that Scenic seemed like a top notch operation and the way they conducted the interviews showed that they really care about who they're hiring, something that I didn't get from another regional I interviewed with recently. The interview was very rigorous and I kind of underestimated it. Every body was friendly and they all looked like they were glad to be there, there were 3 other applicants and all were very nice also. I know at least one other person got an offer on the spot, there was another person that I got to know a little but didn't have the chance to see if they made it or not.

I'd have to say that the interview was more about getting to know you as a person. I think that makes it hard on people. At scenic you won't jump in the flight deck and shut the door for the flight, you will have to interact with the pax therefore personality seemed like a big deal to them. They don't even discuss your resume, they have a test, sim, and hr/tech oral just for that reason.

As far as the actual tech oral, study your jepp plates, know everything there is to know about them. Sim portion was not difficult for me and I kept the instructor quiet most of the time which is a good thing. The main thing to help you out is to relax and just fly it, it's just a sim! Don't over think everything. And finally you have to be yourself and it's ok to make mistakes, it's up to them if they like you or not. I made a few mistakes on the jepp and they make you second guess answers and that is fine they just want to see how you react to pressure and if you're trainable or not. They had a lot of what if and bad captain questions, just give them honest answers.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I think I made the right decision in pursuing Scenic and it seems like a good/fun company to work for. I guess I'll find out.:nana2:Plan the whole day for the interview and by the way I think they used to tell the good/bad news by mail, I guess now they tell you on the spot if you made it. If they say that you'll get a letter in the mail with the result, then that is most likely bad.

Congrats on getting hired at Scenic! If you don't mind, would you care to say whom the other regional was that you interviewed with. Just as it helps to know what worked for you at Scenic, it may be helpful to some to see what you think may not have worked at 'X'.

Enjoy the Ride!!!

Thanks for the writeup. What were your times, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm very low time about 300/140 multi. However flight time doesn't matter to them now, never mentioned the low flight time at the interivew. Most of the 4 to 500+ hour pilots are trying at the regional level. Places like Scenic don't really have luxury of having flight minimums right now. I don't think anybody at the interview had more than 500. However, there is going to be a merger soon by the end of the year between GrandCanyonAirlines and Scenic, that could be a problem with new hiring so I'd try to get in as soon as possible if you want in.

Nice job Dan!!!
Its nice to have a connection at Scenic now ;)
My CFI school starts on Monday. We'll hang out or something.

Fly8slep, congrats on the job. I'm interviewing on the 2nd. Just wondering how the written test was? Pretty much straight forward out of the ATP written? How about the mechanical aptitude portion? Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Had interview on aug 2 and was offered job. :D Seemed like a nice company and i was sweating bullets through the sim and interview (prob cause it was my first one) I dont know how anyone else did because they kicked me out the side door so i couldnt give any info away to the other guys. Anyone starting on next class date?

I know a guy who is starting in Aug at Scenic, his name is Sean, i believe he will be on the Twin Otter. Let me know if you meet him.

They pushed my interview back to the 23rd. When is the next class date? I'm still debating what to do; $15k/year isn't a whole lot.

That sounds great congrats! I have always wanted to fly a twotter and to be able to get in one with those hours is nice and will be a great experience.

I am sitting at 900/150 and I have NO idea where I am going next, I guess it is a good thing for us these days that the decisions are difficult due to their being so many options instead of so little
