How has that been working for you?

Seems to me that would lead to some lonely times

By the way, your gyrating picture got me in trouble at work when the chief pilot walked be and questioned whether it was an "appropriate" site to be on in the crew room.

Greeeeat. Now I can't get Dr. Phil out of my head!

Re: \"romantic life style\"

I guess I'm not 'typical girl' in that I got very uncomfortable if a guy tried to spend too much money on me. It made me nervous.

I don't like feeling like I owe anybody anything!

I still feel somewhat guilty being a stay-at-home mom, in that I'm not contributing to the household income.

As for flowers, no money on store bought flowers needed here. We've got a dozen rose bushes in the backyard, I can see flowers every day from May through October!

I agree with Kristi. It's not that I need flowers and lots of money spent on me. This weekend we went out of state to a wedding and I felt like a princess. Doors opened for me, chair pulled out, offered to get me my drink. Thats what rules. I don't need flowers that die.

[/ QUOTE ]yeah! like doug tells me "you my queen, so I treat you like one".. that's all us girls need.. some attention! except for that first day you get home from your trip.. then we need our space in order to adjust to you being home (takes about a night)! and then you guys have to adjust to having a home! oh, it's all so complicated! hahahahaha

[/ QUOTE ]I was always like that too..spend too much money and I feel like I owe you something back.. but I never considered Taco Bell as "eating out" until I started dating Doug and we considered that was fancy food back then!hahaha but every now and then, he'd treat me to some really special stuff like a picnic in the park (feeding the fish with our stale bread) and stuff like that.. it would fill in the void of not getting dressed up and doing a night on the town (as i was accustomed to *BD* (before doug))

I'm with the Marine on this one! Sure, I'll spend some cash but I've got limits. Does that lead to some lonely times? Probably, but at least when things do seem to be working with a girl you know you've got someone who isn't a high-maintenance pain-in-the-arse when it comes to money.

BTW, sometimes I'll surf the net in a coffee shop and I'll catch people looking at my screen when that gyrating avatar picture comes up. It catches your eye like a freakin' fishing lure!

Okay, I don't understand this: you don't want us around you the first day we get home from a trip?

I've just quit a 'real job' that required that I travel quite a bit. I was on the road about 180 days last year traveling to clients all over CONUS. It was my experience that the homecomings were always wonderful, but my fiance was a student with a lot of spare time at that point. She is now gainfully employed as an enginerd. Are there changes in my near future? Is she going to suddenly start wanting me to not be around when I get home from trips?

I'm just about to start flight instructing, so it'll be while before this happens, but your observations have me curious.

Guys, do your women want you to leave them alone for a while when you get back from trips?

Re: \"romantic life style\"

What it is, is called 'decompression' time.

It's a few minutes, a few hours, whatever is needed for you to revel in finally being home after however many days you've been gone. Me, personally it was two hours. I finally felt 'home', and able to deal with things when I'd been in my house for two hours. Bill's decompressino time is shorter, his is only about 1/2 hour to an hour.

It's the time we use to really finally leave the trip behind us, and unpack all the mental baggage we've brought home with us

Not that she won't be happy to see you, but it's really nice not to be attacked with a 'to-do' list, or any real demands the second you walk in the door!

Re: \"romantic life style\"

Usually when I get home from a trip, I'm pretty high maintenance and end up bugging the crap out of Kristie.

She's independent so it's a little weird for her to go from 'her and the cats' to 'her, the cats and some raving fast-talking lunatic that stinks of jet exhaust, passenger cabin and de-ice fluid' at the drop of a hat four or five times per month.

Usually the first day back I try to give her space until she is used to having me around the house again and then it's back to normal the next day.

I think the big challenging part of my side of the profession that sometimes my own home feels a little foreign at times and I'm not sure where stuff goes like dishes and such. Like I just got comfortable, got my 'must do' errands done and I'm back on the road tomorrow for another four-day trip.

I'm not going to lie, it's difficult! Especially when you're doing the same trip all month because you know what to expect already.

ATL-VPS make sure the cables are down. New jetway
VPS-ATL probably have to hold
ATL-RIC new layover hotel and semi-decent hotel coffee. Free WI-FI!

RIC-ATL Probably a gate hold again. Swap aircraft
ATL-VPS (See above)
VPS-ATL (see above). Longer turn time so I'll probably look for somewhere quiet to chill.
ATL-PHL Better ask for more fuel because even though it's VFR, there's enroute delays that time of the evening. Pretty good layover hotel near starbucks, but no time to do anything in the evening or the morning. Plus have to convince crew how to get down to the hotel pickup point.

PHL-ATL Swap aircraft
ATL-MSY Get in early, probably battle sleep deficit but going to take a huge walk, probably end up in the French Quarter for an early dinner and walk down to the lake on the way back (cool)

MSY-ATL Swap aircraft
ATL-BOS Fantastic! Gotta have the standard clam chowder
BOS-ATL Last leg of the trip, paranoia about making the 45 minute turn in ATL to commute home to PHX.

Can anyone tell that I'm ready for international flying?
