Realistically, what do you want?

Do you guys get full pay for deadheads?

Hell yes. Otherwise, crew sched will have you flying throughout creation filling in here and there. Then you work your tail off and don't see it reflected in your paycheck.

Boy sure sounds like 9E! A friend of mine just got the dreaded double-deadhead assigned to him for SAT tomorrow. I insisted to him that he just enjoy the free hotel and the PD and leave his phone off until he "checks out" the next day.

Like Rex said, that pretty much describes my schedule at 9E. Even lineholders generally have a chunk of DHs during the month. Since they (the union) nixed out of domicile reserve, they just DH you up, have you do a high speed, sit you in a hotel for 10 hours, then DH you back.

My fav is when they DH me to DTW or MSP, have me do a high speed with 7 hours on the ground, then give me 10 hours of "rest" in a hotel when I get back to DTW or MSP, DH to MEM, get in at like 8 pm with a 7 am show the next morning. Yeah, my sleep schedules suck now.

Dad's biggest peeve is not having some sort of contractual maximum reserve coverage, so that pilots have more options for dropping trips and trading days around. The company set min reserve numbers are so inflated right now they would fit in with the Macys thanksgiving parade.

Some of this might be airline specific but:
Having the third pilot also act as a relief pilot eastbound to europe even though that leg is under 8 hours instead of deadheading over.

Rest seat back in first class, rather than a row of seats in coach.

Better trip rig, right now a "4 day" (48 hour layover) UK trip is only worth an hour or so (16 and change) more than a three day trip.

One leg maximum on a duty period that has a redeye. He flew IAH-LAS-EWR a couple of months ago and was beat more than a double redeye to Brazil. Complained about that one until he went back to work.

Man, I can't believe I missed this thread, so entertaining. What do I want right now?

Lot's o Time off (preferably greater than 2 months a year consecutively)
The opportunity to fly cool stuff
Acceptable pay (e.g. upper middle class for now, the rate of acceptability is a sliding scale)
Home 99% of nights.

:(I don't have the 6 hours that it would take for me to talk about what I want in our contract at Colgan.

Web survery is coming out in a few weeks so we can get direction where you want our first contract to take us!
