Realignment Round 2 at 9E

Things are so effed up down there I doubt we'll see a difference when they move SOC, it'll just seem like business as usual.

They already messed up the early bid period with the serve moving. I can't WAIT until they move SOC....

SOC moved this weekend. We have been working from the dark site since Friday morning.

You should see what the SOC looked like with the lights on... OMG dirty.

Have any updates?

You'll have an update from your union soon.

It's pretty sad when a multi million dollar, publicly traded company can't find a computer software designer to code a program to run an award like this. It's like we are trying to send people to the damn moon or something.

Take solace that it's not unique to your airline.

So since tomorrows deadline wont be met will they actually go through with what te contract says and reopen it for 48 hrs? Thus dragging it out longer for no reason. Or will the union message address this?

That's pretty clear. Colgan was a cluster, Pinnacle was almost worse, and Mesaba isn't looking to be that much better. Oh well.

There are more than 3 airlines out there. I'm sure you knew that though....

Oh I know. Its just hard to believe that in my short 3.5 years as an airline pilot, I've had to deal with 3 separate airlines.

Maybe you can just let us believe that it gets better.

Well, I guess we'll see. We passed the deadline a few minutes ago.....

Welp....

Dear Pilots,
On October 3rd bidding closed for Realignment Notice 11-09, the extended multi-class bid. As you are aware, this large bid is intended to provide a vehicle for us to effectively manage Pilot staffing needs across our operation as we navigate through the complexities of reduced SF340 flying and integrating operations.
We are disappointed to report that, despite significant efforts to the contrary, the award is not yet completed. Efforts have been underway for some time to enhance the software system used for Position awards so that the award logic incorporates all of the intricacies of the Bloch decision. The developers and our Planning team worked extensively to program and test these enhancements with the goal of using the updated system to award Realignment 11-09. Unfortunately, these software enhancements are not yet in place and much of the award process must be completed manually.
Planning personnel – with the assistance of several ALPA representatives - are working diligently to complete the award as quickly as possible. We recognize the importance of this bid to all of you and continue to work with a sense of urgency to get the results to you. Given the amount of work that remains, it’s possible that the Award will not be published until Friday, but it’s also possible that it will be done sooner, so please continue to monitor the progress by watching for updates.
The Company apologizes for the delay in this award and, while it is difficult to advise you that we still have days of work ahead of us, we feel it is critical that we provide you with a realistic assessment of our current situation. If conditions or the associated time line changes – positively or negatively – we will ensure that we communicate those changes to you.
Warm Regards,

VP manpower planning

So uhhhh.. this goes against the contract.

Welp....

So uhhhh.. this goes against the contract.

Well remember the new mantra... Being militant wasn't working, so now we are constructively engaging. Or put another way, following the contract doesn't matter. Weren't we supposed to have 100% of the contract implemented by September? Oh yeah, could not do that either.

I think this whole thing is actually really smart on the company's part. Now instead of being 3 separate airlines, we are one large pissed airline.

Yet we still have to be "Professionals" even when they are not and continue to work. They violate the contract and I have to be a "Professional." Funny how that works... and ALPA's stance is what?

With the exception of what you posted earlier, I have seen nothing from either the union or the company.

Sad...

Correct me if I am wrong, but the 48 hour reopening is only in effect if staffing circumstances change after the posting of the notice. Guessing since this covers everything through well into next year, they will wiggle out of this portion, BUT it still says in black in white...

The Award date shall not be later than seven (7) days from the close of the Bid.

Looks like nothing has changed. Give the company all the room in the world to violate the contract, yet we the pilot group have our hands and feet chained to the JCBA.

i would hope that you would be Professional irregardless of what company you work for. Professionalism isn't something that comes with a title or paycheck. If you want that, find another job or career path. We, as professional aviators hold ourselves to a different standard. To act any other way would diminish the standing of all professional aviators, and give the company all the more reason to come after us. If you want to get their attention, hit them where it hurts. In the wallet. Have faith that your union reps are looking out for your best interests. If they aren't, get involved or get them removed. If it was up to me right now, we would file 3000 grievances.
