Holy crap, you have been at DL for 7 years now?
No, but he's been on the DL for about that long!

Sure about that? I'm talking about a legitimate safety concern on why a wind check might be wanted.
You are the one who wants to fire someone for being outside of uniform compliance.
It's not a legitimate safety concern. Our 737 drivers manage just fine without ever asking for wind checks. In fact, they're usually mocking those of you who do.
Lots of our guys are over flying the 800s now. Trust me, they aren't asking for wind checks. Why? Because if you can't manage energy without asking for a wind check, then you're doing it wrong.

This seems appropriate

Hasn't been a single AirTran pilot involved in any of their "incidents."
So routinely that it's like delta/United/atlas are an airborne rco.X1000
Seriously, I routinely cancel through someone on center flying over at many of our destinations.
Guard is useless anyway. 90% of the time when anyone has a legit transmission, it gets blocked or people start asking 'so what's going on? What engine? Oh man, what kind of aircraft?" etc.
I think I was flying that day. Very upsetting if it was the same incident.I wonder if it's the same one. I overheard a super cub transmitting on guard in a similar fashion while I was enroute to IAH from YYZ. Little Rock approach picked up on it and was talking to him, and I was really shocked to hear the guard police chime in.

I've flown with guys who ask. I think it's just a different mindset or something. Its not like you make corrections based upon reported winds. You make corrections based upon what's happening to you.Well then that settles it! Glad you all are superior to me!
I will continue, on rare occasion, ask for a wind check, just to double check what's going on and make corrections.

Wind checks are free...why not?

It ties up the frequency with worthless garbage. Might not matter in SBN, but it certainly does in places like ATL, DCA, LGA, etc.
