I stay away from these sites anymore, for obvious reasons. But I'm going to chime in here with a few words.
First of all, there is no reason to get fired up at the RAH pilots. The company has been involuntarily displacing pilots to staff the 190. Yes, the line to fly the 190 at these rates has not been very long. I missed the 190 displacement by 1 number - thank God. When you're involuntarily displaced, you either go, or you go home. So relax.
Second, the IBT is working on the new CBA. Before you start throwing pitch forks, lets keep in mind how long PCL has been in negotiations for example. These things don't happen overnight...even an issue as pressing as E190 rates - do not happen overnight. The local 747 in their defense, have been working their asses off. We continue to receive weekly updates. The negotiations have apparently stalled on the very section of PAY RATES. Again, as mentioned before, the company wants to play the "But its 99 seats" game. No go. The IBT is preparing to fight this until the end.
Sometimes I think some of you folks spend WAY too much time on these computers and message boards, that you lose touch with reality. The reality is, the planes are here, the contract is still being negotiated and will not be settled on anytime soon. Thats a fact of the airline business. I'm sorry if that upsets your balance. We (the pilots at RAH) can not do anything but fly when told to fly. I can't afford to quit my job and I don't think anybody here can do that right now. We would have no place to go. "But you could all walk off the job" - thats illegal. We need the Union to lead the way - and they are.
In fact, it may not be a terrible thing to have negotiations continue to drag on. This will allow us to fully integrate with our Frontier and Midwest brothers/sisters and we just very well may have a hell of a lot more bargaining power with the likes of a well educated, well experienced group of mainline pilots in our ranks. In fact, I really look forward to having Frontier and Midwest pilots bring what they have to offer.
Patience folks....please don't throw eggs at my Embraer windshield just yet...
