R.I.P. "Jetlink". You will be missed.

I can assure you that we won't be voting for any contract that has a reduction in our vacation language.

Ever.

At all.

We've got guys that would rather see the company go out of business than give that one up.

That's a good point. You guys do get paid a lot more for your vacation. Normally we can't pick up on top of our vacation unless the company is offering vacation buyback which happens every....you guessed it...Summer!

While I would love to add your vacation pay scheme, I know there is no chance in hell. Company is already regretting the PBS vacation model(vacation low preference) they agreed to so there is pretty much zero chance they'll let us improve it.

No chance in hell is a pretty steep assertion. The proposals haven't even been prepared yet Marcus, so it is anyone's guess (how ill-informed, or uneducated as it may be) to even dream about what the Vacation language will be.

No one has any idea what could be transferred across that table.

However, it would be prudent for every single pilot to communicate their desires for such a section to their respective status reps.

Just so it is clear, the following sections have not been prepared yet:

Flight Instructors (Pt-II)
Training
Hours of Service
Scheduling
Vacation
Recognition and Job Security
Insurance
Compensation
Duration

All, courtesy of your most recent JNC Update.

I know, it's more fun to speculate and get some drama goin'

But please, pick up the phone or send an e-mail to your reps so that YOUR desires as a PILOT for this Association can be reflected in the final product.

Sure you do. More internet bravado. How's your STFD working since you don't have onelist?

So far every captain I've flown with has said do not vote for the PBS system - something about how the only people that benefit from PBS are the ones near the top of the bid seniority and it screws everyone else. I'm still a new guy so I'm ignorant to a lot of this stuff, but trying to learn both sides.

I'm at 50% in my base and I'm very happy with what PBS has gotten me. The people that are anti PBS no matter what talk about "well of you want something particular off you can trade for it in the bid improvement window. 1) I have had much better success getting random days off with PBS 2) the way this company staffs, your swap/drop is going to be denied for reserve coverage anyway. 3) The opportunity to swap and drop still exists, there just isn't as much to choose from.

The other argument is the vacation system. It sounds great. But I'd rather have a better schedule the 10 months of the year where I don't have vacation. PBS has given me that, and still a pretty damn good schedule on a vacation month too. But I know other people have experienced very different results.
