PUBNAT3

If the timeline in the e-mail was correct, we'd have PEPCs in March or April. Approx 3 months after the panels in January it said.

So those other two, I assume, must be our PEPCs that PUBNAT2 can be invited to.

Always gotta keep in mind that PUBNAT2 and PUBNAT3 were originally supposed to be a combo deal.

I wonder if we'll only have one PEPC since our group is so small. I can't see us needing more than two. Unless they really have automatically considered PUBNAT2 with us, as someone applied above. However, if all them were being PEPCed with us...that seems like a HUGE waste of money on the FAA's part. They've either had PEPCs, been assigned interviews, or thrown out of the process by the time April comes around in 6 months. So that's why I assume that April and maybe March is us with some PUBNAT2 stragglers.

Sure, if they don't suddenly decide to make their PEPCS "quarterly", too.

Is our group small? Does anyone know how many applicants are in #3?

Several people didn't even bother showing up for their ATSAT at the NY location. There were only 14 of us, one of which was a Vet. going OTS, but he stated that he is colorblind. I don't know why they let him continue to take the test...

Because the contract employees administering the ATSAT cannot medically disqualify someone from employment. Even though he will 99.99999% be disqualified he has to go all the way to PEPC and then not pass the medical....

There was an FAA Eastern regional official from HR present, and he knew about the colorblind guy.

They still have to be 'officially' disqualified by a flight surgeon.

Also, even if you "fail" a piece of your medical at your PEPC they will ask that you see a specialist (ie Optometrist) and send you home with a form for them to fill out and fax back.

**Yes, I failed my PEPC vision test, but the Optometrist I went to the next day determined I was at or better than 20/20.

That's what I was getting at, even an HR guy is not a MD and isn't capable of disqualifying someone medically related. It just isn't an issue at that state of the process...

I understand...it's just ridiculous.

But the kid had been seen by a professional, and presented him with the fact that he was deemed colorblind on two separate color-plate exams. Does he think that's going to magically change at the PEPC?

I felt it was negligent that the HR guy didn't even mention that it could potentially be a problem...even if he didn't have the medical authority to disqualify him there. He knew better.

I was under the impression you only needed 20/20 if you were looking for a tower job but for a center you could have 20 in just one I is that correct?

I am a male as well

I am enroute and at PEPC I tested 20/20 far sight in both eyes and near sighted was 20/20 in right eye, 20/30 in left eye and they 'failed' me. Optometrist tested me far sight 20/20 left, 20/15 right... near 20/20 both.

I'm gonna go to the opthalmologist right before the PEPC to make sure my script is up to date. I'll see if I can bring in a script that says my vision is 20/20 also.

The vision is the part I'm most worried about. It's fine with contacts or glasses, but when I look at the charts I'm always nervous that I'm telling the D and O or whatever apart right.

QUESTION: Can someone please send me a copy of the original PUBNAT 2 that states that we do not have to apply for PUBNAT 3 because we would be automatically considered? I need this information ASAP....even more so for those of us that did not get picked for PUBNAT 2....I spoke with the Administrator over OKC hiring process and I was informed that they made a mistake and that we will not be considered because after the panels pick the people that they want than that is it and the rest go into a file. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help!

If you log into ASAP then click the 'Applications' tab. The announcements you've applied for appear. Click the announcement number and the original posting will pull up.

I think you mean a copy of PUBNAT3... and I know I copied and pasted that part somewhere on these forums back when the announcement first came out, but I'm looking around and I have no idea where

If that's what happened, it totally stinks for you guys in PUBNAT2 who didn't get picked. But just sit it out for PUBNAT4. Even if it's the FAA's mistake, once a certain stage of the application has been considered, it seems like what's done is done.

I mean, look at poor Raydon...guy didn't get considered for PUBNAT4 because they didn't count military employment as work history for him. Even though it was clearly the FAA's mistake, no one he complained to could change it once the applicants had been considered.

At any rate, I mentioned a few posts ago, the other reason I assume they won't consider PUBNAT1 and PUBNAT2 with us is because they'd be obligated to reconsider all candidates and re-invite all qualified ones to PEPCs. That would be an astronomical waste of money and time on their part. I'd be pretty surprised to see it happen. It already seems like PUBNAT4 might be thrown in with us...PUBNATs 1-4 all being reviewed again together? They don't even have the resources to get through one PUBNAT quickly let alone do 4 over at once.

I apprecate your concern, we have rights and since they did make a mistake than it should still be honored....Besides the lady told me the next panels will not even meet until after the first of the year...

Yup they should be honored...I don't think they will be, though. Raydon's thing was a case in point. They screwed up, admitted they screwed up, and still said that once it was done there was nothing left they could do.

Also, back when PUBNAT3 was out I remember that the FAA corrected the don't reapply statement....they did this while the announcement was still open, so previous applicants did have time to put in new applications.

It was discussed a lot on the boards; I just remember it well since that was my first application. They took back what the announcement said and told folks to apply again to be considered, but they couldn't go back and actually change the wording on the original.

I don't remember where these things were written, but if you search the boards it's probably back there somewhere.
