PUBNAT3

You need to branch out from the Absolut -- there are so many better, cheaper Vodkas out there, i.e. Finlandia, Svedka, Chopin, etc...if you want to splurge, Skyy......

Actually, I recommend Skyy to all Academy students. No hangovers.

I highly recommend no alcohol unless on the weekends because it's hard enough to stay awake after spending 8 hours in class and 2-5 hours a night studying...much less trying to stay awake because you were partying. It's no joke here...Lots of info and it feels like not enough time to learn it all!

Actually the drink of choice seems to be Coke, Diet Coke and LOTS OF COFFEE!!!

I'm curious what other folks on this forum drink. Here is my assessment:

LeftyLasVegas drinks PBR, and Jägermeister. He frequents O'Shea's on the Strip, for beer pong.

Thanks for thinking so highly of me. :sarcasm:

I prefer a good bold Cab or Merlot. If I order mixed drinks, it's always a Dirty Birdy (Grey Goose Martini, Dirty, very dirty...) or anything with some Silver Patron. Depends on the mood or plans for the evening.:buck:

AMEN SISTA! I will have a bed, a towel, a couple pairs of pants/shirts and a coffee machine in my apt. Must have coffee. I'll ask about having a constant drip, like an IV installed for three months.

I hear you, but my study and work schedule is worse than that now, and I still manage to find the time to fit in an alcoholic beverage on the weekend, or after work, sometimes. People handle their liquor differently, and imbibe it for different reasons.

I know the average person boozes it up at a banal bar or party like a college kid, but others just like to unwind on the porch with a shot of tequila and some Mexican food...

As far as the coffee, I am with LeftyLasVegas, IV of espresso please, stat, thank you!

As far as alcoholic drinks, during the week, especially if I am studying, it is maybe a beer or a glass of Merlot while I study.

:laff::laff::laff: I'm still fighting with my three friends, and one dirty Mexican, I am sure you know them to, Jack Daniels, Jimmy Bean, Johnny Walker, and Jose Cuervo :laff::laff::laff:
Haha. You need to upgrade to the 4 Horsemen (just add Jameson to your 3WM) and the Jackson 5 (Jack, Jim, Jose, Johnnie, and Jager). I promise, from personal experience, you won't taste the jager lol.

But since I am saving money, I have to stick to beer ($5 pitchers).

You know, when I was going to school, I mastered the art of going to work 50 hours a week, going to grad school 12 hours a week, add in the homework, and was still able to go out. And besides, I have learned through multiple 20+ semester hours at the undergrad level, that setting a night aside from doing nothing but having fun, is not only fun, but absolutely necessary. But thats just my .02.

zz :)

I'm going to play the timeline game with the emails that we got from the e-mail contact listed on our announcement. What he said is in blue and my comments are in green.

After the ATSAT test, if you pass with a 70% or higher, you will be given a chance to select 2 states as your geographical preference and whether you want En Route or Terminal or whichever comes available first.

So that sounds like we all get preferences as long as we didn't fail.

We have a selection panel that convenes once a quarter to make their selections, so you will not receive the geographical preference e-mail until approximately 2 months prior to a selection panel conveying. At this time, we do not have a selection panel scheduled until after January 1, 2009.

That would mean that if panels are around mid-January or so, we'll be getting geographic preferences around the middle of November. That would match up with the 2-3 months from late August date range he gave us after the test.

Also, that would mean that the next panels after that would be in April.

We will then create referral lists for the panel that will make tentative selections from that announcement.

That would be sometime in January. So by February we should know where we're probably going to be going.

If you are selected, you will be contacted to get you set up for an interview and to attend a Pre-Employment Processing Center (PEPC) for your medical and security; this could take approximately 3 months after the conclusion of the selecting process.

Ok so approximately 3 months would put us in the middle of April for PEPCs.

And if we missed the boat that the next selection panels would also be around this time.

After completing the required medical and security examines, it could take up to several months before we could get you scheduled into an academy class. This depends upon the number of classes that we have scheduled and whether or not they have been filled.

That looks to me like we'd be talking summer of 2009 for OKC.

I unfortunately have to agree with all of your commentary.

I'm surprised about the quarterly panels, though, and about how long our process is, when compared to PUBNATs 1+2. Why can't they hold a panel remotely by video conference...? Obviously, I'm being sardonic, but seriously, are they Luddites?

I'm from pubnat 2. Where are you guys in the application process? And, like it said in the application if you applied to 2 are you automatically considered into 3? I have heard that you weren't, then I heard that you were...so what is the actual info...

I scored a 97.7 and my geo pref. were TX and VA and somehow haven't got an email yet..well tuesday is always option...We'll see this weekend is just that much longer......:(

I think you have to wait until PUBNAT4. People who called the FAA to double check the "don't apply if you applied to PUBNAT2" thing were told that was a mistake. That's going by what I've read on these boards though, I didn't apply to PUBNAT2.

We're currently waiting for geographic preferences. We got our scores in August. We thought our panels would be in November but now it looks like they were bumped to January. So if you're PUBNAT4, you're in for an ultra long wait. Sorry!

I called to ask and when they initially told me it was a "mistake" I asked them what they were going to do about it. See, when things are printed in federal job announcements they kind of have to be honored. I got a call back a few days later and was told that everyone from NAT2 and 1 would be considered under 3.

As for the geo pref, don't put too much faith into them. I selected FL (En route or terminnal) and was selected for ZNY... another person on here selected FL only and was put in ZME. They will put you anywhere... (Luckily ZNY is near where I live now... if they gave me ZME I would have no choice but to decline... no way going to Memphis...)

It seems as if unless you chose a critical needs area that needed people in the tower/tracon, you were SOL if you chose terminal only.

I bet those who put terminal or en route at least have a job possibility. Just obviously not where they were intending to go. lol

From watching PUBNAT2, I'm starting to think that maybe I'll put the center I want as my first preference, and throughout the nation as my second one (enroute only). My only worry is that I'd end up someplace tacky. New Mexico...gross.

But it sounds like folks are getting turned down with high scores, so maybe I should just do it that way. I do not want to wait for PUBNAT4.

Lame, but I have been sitting around reading ALL the other PubNat postings. Just trying to glean some information about our time line. From a comment in the PubNat2 "initail" contact thread, an official letter regarding the Pub Nat2 PEPC states,

"We have scheduled PEPCs for the week of November 17-21st in Kansas City, MO and the week of January 26-30th in Los Angeles, CA. All terminal candidates will be processed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of those weeks. We will be processing approximately 50 candidates per day; therefore we may not be able to accommodate everyone at this time.

We will be scheduling PEPCs in February and March. If you want to attend a later PEPC we will let you know the dates and locations as soon as possible"

I am hoping some of us will be invited to those PEPC's in February and March. It seems to fall into line with everything else.
Thoughts?

PEPCs in February and March for PUBNAT2 candidates.... nothing has said that those PEPCs will include PUBNAT3 or 4.
