PUBNAT3

There is a lot of speculation going on that PUBNAT2 should be getting there referral list in the next several days as its rumored that their panels are meeting next week. If this is true, we may expect our geo prefs in the next week or two. Meanwhile, just keep an eye out for the pubnat2ers to start posting they got their referal lists.

I put in my comments section that I would prefer EnRoute but I still marked either terminal or EnRoute. Whether or not they will pay attention to my comments, I have no idea.

They do because I clicked terminal only and in the comments said that I would take ZTL however, and thats exactly what I got.

...getting edgy on waiting for these preferences. Seems to be taking a little bit longer than it did for PUBNAT2. I know, I know, everybody's has been different and it'll come around and complaining doesn't help and blahblahblahblah. Just hoping that it shows up tomorrow morning, new business week and all.

I've seen this question visited a little bit in another thread, but not in too much detail: What do you think would happen if, for the second choice, someone were to put "Across the nation" but then specified locations in the Comment box? I've got a good idea of what's first for me (Seattle), but have several alternatives that I wouldn't mind: Oregon, Georgia, Louisiana, Hawaii, Utah, Arizona. Two posts above me, Luftwaffe gave some evidence that they read those boxes, but I wonder if that'd be stretching it?

In each step of the process, we've taken consistently longer than our PUBNAT1+2 counterparts. It took almost two months alone for us to get authorized for our AT-SATs, as opposed to 3.5 weeks for PUBNAT2, and two days for PUBNAT1.

I'm hoping to visit some more facilities this week, and perhaps, that will get my mind off the geo. pref. bit for awhile. Even once we receive it, we'll need to wait a few weeks for it to "close", anyhow. It won't matter whether we submit it the first or last day. And then we're going to need to wait again for the referral list that seals our fate. Waiting, waiting, waiting.

I know that this is how the process is and we have no control over it, etc., but I can still understand your frustration.

At this point, I just honestly want to know if I'm "in" or "out", so that I can plan my life accordingly.

Hey everyone, I stumbled across this site a week ago and have been reading the info and experiences shared here. I am part of the PUBNAT 3 group (hence why I'm posting in here) and I feel all your pain with the waiting game...

Welcome to the group and congrats on the great AT-SAT score!

PUBNAT2: got referred today
PUBNAT3: ???

Who's being left out here?

While we're all waiting on our geo prefs and checking our email constantly, a bunch of people are visiting towers and centers they are interested in being hired for. What I haven't been able to find out is who is best to contact and how to contact them (phone, fax, email, carrier pigeon) to take a tour. I've heard that the NATCA rep is sometimes a good person, but people have a hard time reaching them. I've also heard some people contact the facility manager directly, but how much time does he really have to deal with ots applicants. I don't want to be a doofus and call them up and be all "Hi, I think I want to work in your facility...please give me a tour." Someone please help!

I contacted someone in the training department to give me a tour, but usually just about anyone will be more than happy to help. If not, the worst they will tell you is they can't give you a tour.

I understand what you mean completely...I felt presumptuous calling up the tower directly, but the NATCA reps *ARE* sometimes hard to reach. Out of the six facility reps I contacted, only three wrote back in a timely fashion, and another, a month later. Two didn't bother!

I ended up having to call the tower for those two, and one said I had the wrong number (Haha...). I called back on another day of the week, and got someone more friendly.

So, I'd say go "balls to the wall" and just make the call. Slyly withhold your name, just in-case, I'd say.

I was just on the phone with aviation careers division for a while. They kept me on hold while they called around to some other folks there to find out what we want to know. Very useful information:

Our AT-SAT was going to be considered for the panels this week, but the scores came in late so we aren't (what rotten luck).

We are going to be considered for panels that will meet on either the first or second week of November. He did not know which week or when terminal and en route are. Just that that is when panels will be held.

So our geographic preferences and referral lists will be out to correspond with that panel.

Thanks for your post! Sooo, they were going to combine PUBNAT2 & 3 after all, like many suspected! Too bad it didn't work out for us. I'm hoping for a geo pref email very soon. 3 weeks for that to close would put it to the first of Oct. Another few weeks for the referral list to come out would make it mid to late October...which would be right in line with an early Nov. panel. So, they will have to get our geo. preferences out within the next few days, I would think.

That sounds about right to me at this point. Obviously then we should get our geo prefs soon to make the period of time they give you to decide and to then generate the referral list before the panels meet. I would have rather been part of this one, but waiting is what we do best right???

Thanks for the good info!

Yeah, for geo prefs he just said that would be soon. I just made this survey thread to help us decide if there are any places that would be inadvisable to put down for geo preferences.

When we get them doesn't matter to me that much now that we know panels are early November; that means that geo prefs and referrals will have to happen here at some point and that getting them sooner won't really move the process along that much.

I'm just glad to know what our timeframe is looking like now!

I wonder if PUBNAT4 will get everything done in time to be considered the the November panels? What's their last day of testing?

Heh... I don't know if we do waiting all that well, given the huge amount of "TIRED OF WAITING AHHHHH" posts here. But I suppose that lesser men (and women) would've thrown in the towel by this point and found some other job, so maybe not. Wonder what I'd be doing to vent my impatience if this forum didn't exist?

Anyway, thanks for making the call, Honu. You're a stud, as usual.

I agree. The most they can ever say is no -- and I'd think most of them would be understanding, given that they've all been where we are at one point. It shows initiative, and it may give you an edge on figuring out where to go.

The man with whom I spoke asked for my name and then he used that to look up my information on the computer. It sounded like he was looking up the status my my geographic preference e-mail. When he saw that I hadn't been sent one yet I could hear him asking other people in the room why it had not been sent out. I heard some discussion in the background (no one seemed to know why) and then he came back and said I should hold on while he made some phone calls to see what the story was with PUBNAT3. He was very friendly and helpful.

I don't think giving your name out can hurt at all...unless you're constantly calling, you're rude, or something like that.
