PUBNAT3

Apparently I got my Geo Preff too, but I may have deleted it from my spam box without reading it first.
I know this because I got the second email regarding: ” Please note that the e-mail you received from us previously showed a suspense date 9 December 2009. This date was incorrect. The actual suspense date that should have been shown on the e-mail is 9 December 2008.”
I emailed FAA about this, but I’m eager to know what in the email right away.
Any help would be appreciated.

Where is Honu the grammar maiden. I find it interesting they used the word "suspense" which doesn't make ANY sense in context. Except for the fact that after that date you will all be in suspense on where you are slated. I thought maybe they meant to use 'suspension' but that doesn't make any sense either. I think they meant to say "cutoff" or "deadline". LOL, suspense, that's a riot! :laff:

They can tell me that pigs fly, I don't care as long as they give me a job. :)

I got my geo pref at 10:45 Eastern (I think) and haven't yet looked at the link yet to see how or what you can exactly select. I know it says two states but is that it? I figured you can select specific places and that you would select in order from most desirable to less where lastly you could select "anywhere in the US". Anybody sumbit there geo pref? Here is a copy of the email minus the link:

Thank you for your interest in our Air Traffic Controller Specialist (ATCS) positions. Since you applied to our national ATCS announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT3-9613 we are requesting additional information to determine the various geographic preferences where you desire to work.

Please use the url provided in this e-mail to submit answers in the following 2 areas:
  1. You will see a list of states in the attached website, please choose up to 2 states where you desire to work.
  2. There are 2 facility options available through the ATCS positions. We need your decision on whether you prefer to work:
    1. the terminal option,
    2. the en route option or
    3. that you will accept either of these options.
The Terminal option controls air traffic at airports and give pilots taxiing and takeoff instructions, air traffic clearances, and advice based on their own observations, information from the National Weather Service, Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs), flight service stations, pilots, & other sources. Terminal Air Traffic Controllers transfer control of aircraft to the En Route Center controller when the aircraft leaves their airspace, and they receive control of aircraft coming into their airspace.
Air Traffic Controllers in the En Route (Center) option give aircraft instructions, air traffic clearances and advice regarding flight conditions while en route between airports. They provide separation between aircraft flying along the Federal airways or operating into or out of airports.
Please note that this e-mail is only for your use to provide your geographic and facility preferences to the Aviation Careers Division. This is not to be construed as a job offer. After you provide the required information using the link below we will provide an opportunity for your application to be reviewed for possible selection in the near future.
Please provide this information as quickly as possible, replies submitted after Wednesday, December 9, 2009 will diminish your ability to be selected for these positions.
To update your preferences, please go to http://
If you have any questions, please contact the Aviation Careers Division at 405-954-4657 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Central Time) Monday through Friday.

Assuming they haven't changed it, you will select terminal, enroute, or both... then there are 2 drop down menus for you to choose your 2 preferences. Lastly, there is a comment box to be used to list specific counties in large states, but many of us have used it for other reasons.

Sure its been asked but will picking one (enroute/terminal) hurt you chances? What are "other reasons"?

I probably should've said "other purposes"... but some people put specific facilities or they'll list reasons for why they want a certain state/facility... basically anything they feel the hiring panels should know.

As for choosing only enroute or only terminal... it obviously limits you to just one of them, but don't pick both if you really aren't willing to accept whichever they give you. If it doesn't matter to you, both is the best option. You should also remember that these are just preferences, so even if you pick terminal only, you still may end up at a center or vice versa.

"suspense" is government speak for "must be done by." The military uses that term quite often.

its funny to see suspense. i was in the airforce and know anytime i am asked to do somthing the first thing that comes to mind is when is the suspense date?

Question to the PubNat3ers. Any of you guys that recieved geo prefs have a yahoo mail account? I heard of some troubles with not recieving mail from them from certain emial accounts.

I am not pubnat3, but I'll answer anyways. They were having issues with comcast emails at one point.

As far yahoo, 80% of my emails from the FAA were in my spam folder... so keep that thing cleared out and review them all often.

I feel like I should re-submit my geo preferences, given the whole "suspense date" issue. Is it detrimental to re-submit if they all ready recieved them yesterday? Or, just leave it be and hope for the best?

If you submitted them for PUBNAT3 yesterday and it went through, there's no reason to resubmit. The suspense date thing was just an email typo, it doesn't affect the info you submitted.

I got TWO geopreference letters!:rawk: I somehow received someone elses. I contacted someone at the FAA and hopefully they are able to rectify the problem, but if you are out there wondering where your geo pref letter is and your intitals are NM, PM me and I will forward the messages to your email.

So ... out of curiosity ... where is everyone picking?

My Prefs:
Terminal Only
MA, VA
Comments: Prefer East coast but will go anywhere

-Joe

Enroute only
1. Illinois
2. Indiana

I've been out of the loop and only check this site and other sources periodically. At this point, what are your best guesses as to what the timeline will look like for the remainder of the application process?? I think as a very vague guess:

Referal lists in the Spring, PEPC in Summer, and OKC in Fall??

Anyone else have other ideas or more educated, specific guesses?
