Pubnat 5/6

What does that mean for all of us, obviously they still need more ATCer's. I really hope this doesn't delay us more. Where do you find this information?

A training supervisor came in today and talked with our class for a few minutes. Over 700 training slots for 2010 at the academy have been cut. Each class has about 15 people in it, you do the math. It is depressing, very depressing. It has to do with backlogs at the facilites that hired people. They have people on payroll that sit in rooms and read training docs, because they have to many people to train.

Your facility may be different and want you ASAP, but if your class was canceled, they can't do anything about it.

I think a lot of people that have not hit the mandatory retirement age are staying in due to the economy....

You hit the nail on the head on that one. A bunch of people that were going to retire stayed in cause the stock junk. That put a wrench in the machine as well.

well I went to my facility and spoke to the ATM, he was VERY nice and although he had no info, I feel better about the whole thing. maybe that's because he said 1 person is definitely leaving within the next 2 months, and at least 2 more are trying to go to ZLA, these are CPC's so they would need to be replaced, and there are only 3 other people besides me slated for SEE this year.
so 3 people leaving = 3 slots right?
i hope.
here's to hearing something in the new year!

So with all this happy news that was being spread around, I wanted to be sure that I was still on target for "what was told to be my window for a class date" 4-1-10 through 9-1-10. E.M as usual emailed me back within two hours saying:

_ _ _ was reduced to zero slots for this fiscal year - this is always subject
to change - most facilities are in the same situation with either zero
quota or more people than slots .

Terrible, Terrible news. I have to keep with my current job for at least another year. This means that it could possibly take 3-4 yrs to be at my facility. It's pretty bad when your family size could change two or three times and be able to get another degree, before we are even in class. This is one muffed up process.

AGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Porpstrike, and everyone else, I hate to post this after you just got that news, but I just got a phone call offering me Feb 2nd, 2010!!!!!

This process is hilarious! OMG, I just went to my facility on Tuesday and figured I wouldn't be seeing it again for at least a year, now hopefully in 6 months.

You guys just need to come to San Diego, it's nice weather, good COLA, and maybe you can get bumped along in the process.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!! and good luck, in the New Year!
:rawk:

The ATO talked to us today at the Academy. They said hiring is being cut back due to the struggles of the aviation industry in general.

Anyone from 5/6 going to OKC Feb 2nd? I have heard people on SM mention Feb 1st, but no one else says the 2nd, and that is the date my rep has said multiple times...maybe they are different classes, since I'm OTS?

I redid my drug test Dec 22. I called my rep this morning and he said he was waiting to send out my e-mail FOL on the new pay scales....how long does it take to get new pay scales, and why do others have their FOL's? I hope I still get the packet with info in the next 2 weeks. I am trying to find somewhere to live and figure out what to do with my son, and blah, blah, blah.

Just a bump for the thread.
:hiya:

Got a date... April 7th Terminal Basics. I gave up coming on here because I thought I'd be the only Pubnat 5er still switching thumbs. After catching up I actually feel pretty lucky.

Good luck, everyone. I don't know when they'll start calling about the April dates, but I called my rep and she filled me in.

So, what's everyone doing while they wait?

I am working a meaningless job that a monkey could do in the seventh circle of cubicle hell!

Went ahead and moved up to Seattle, where I've got a TOL for. While post-TOL transfers in the past weren't unheard of, with everybody filled up these days and HR officially putting the kibosh on transfer requests, it seemed like a safe move. In the meantime... looking for short term work.

...then, a week after getting here, a guy takes off from my home field and crashes a plane into a building not far from my old workplace. Hmm.
