How important is it to have talked to ATMs in the states that you've picked? I've gone through a lot of posts that pretty much say it's hard to get hired unless you do this. Just wondering how important it is
Only matters if they feel inclined to pass your name along to whoever's making selections for their facility. Then, it only matter if that person is inclined to take their ATM's suggestion, put it on a list, take it to OKC, and actually use that list. And that's assuming that they have enough space there, that there aren't too many people going for that spot, or whatever else could pop up.
In other words, it could help a lot, or it could make no difference whatsoever.
We all for some reason believe that the test is king. I'm still not entirely sure why we believe that, other than that other people on here have told us that. I have noticed one thing though, that I find hilarious:
Everyone who scored 95-100 is totally sure that the test is the only thing that matters, and that they definitely care about your score.
Everyone who scored 85-90 is totally sure that other stuff must matter and that even if it IS just the test, all they care about is that you got WQ.
*sigh* Right. Got that all figured out too, eh? Just like you were able to write off as pointless doing any sort of study for the AT-SAT? Look, just because you're too lazy to search through the forums to see the things posted up which were quoted
directly from the people who do the selecting that support that, don't go complaining about it. I know you really, really, really, reallyreallyreally hope that they're going to look at your background, work history, blahblahblah, and make a decision based upon your superior analytical skills which you so astutely have posted up here by disregarding stuff which was well-established here and elsewhere months ago... but it ain't gonna happen, man.
Or, since you're disinclined to believe anything you hear unless it's in line with what you hope to be true, why bother listening to us at all? You've got a couple of weeks to hear back about the panels, so why not track down your district manager of choice to ask them what role the AT-SAT will play in the hire of an OTS candidate? I've had three willingly go over it with me, I'm sure they'll do it with you too, if you ask nice.
That is... if the panels are even real at all. All of the people with AT-SAT scores over 90 believe that they are, so it's doubtful.
I didn't get picked up for NY or VT. Granted VT only has one facility and they have like 12 CPC and 12 trainees.
You didn't pick En Route Only, right?
Kidding. Keep in mind that they may not have been hiring that particular round. That's what kept me out of my facility of choice for PUBNAT3/4, according to their ATM.
