You're taking a big risk starting off at level 10+ terminal facilities. The washout rates are pretty bad, up to 80% at some places. There's a good reason that, pretty much across the board, the veterans have been advising applicants to start off somewhere smaller and work up -- the way that it was before the staffing crisis unfolded.

You're right but in our case they are handing you wherever they need you and if you turn that place down you may never hear from anyone again. You sort of have to expect that you're gonna be given a place you can't handle and just prepare for it. If I get/got a TOL for such a facility I'd be in there everyday checking out the ops and configs.

Yeah, that is very much the position that I'm taking too. If I get handed Denver approach, you'd better believe I'll be as prepared for it as one can possibly be.
 
Denver sounds pretty cool.However I didn't pick anywhere interesting just New York, my home state. I visited a couple of facilities and everyone is always laughing and cracking jokes and thats with the two go-arounds gate holds and rejected takeoffs happening. SO it can't be that bad
 
Yeah, I visited Denver Center a couple of days ago, thanks to my best buddy Shelby. It was a lot more relaxed than I had always pictured. Guys cracking jokes between handoffs, talking about their golf game.
 
Yeah the manager at N90 said "you're gonna be learning the screen and on the weekends we're gonna take you out for golf lessons". I wouldn't mind doing that, it seems everyone in aviation plays golf especially flexjet pilots

man im to young to be learning how to play golf. thats a sport for retirement. oh well ill just have to learn and beat those old guys at there game.:D
 
I spoke with a guy who recently retired from management at my local center, and he said that the test score is definitely a factor when they select people. The list goes in order of score. They higher the score, the sooner they see you, the better your chances.
 
Hmmm, though the consensus was that they don't see your score during panels. Isn't it just a random list of WQ and then Q?

They don't see your score. The list hoever is created and oredered based on the score. 100 at top descending downward. The numerical score isn't shown, but the list is designed so the highest scoring are at the top.

The list is compiled using more than AT-SAT score alone - that is fact. So, your statement of "100 at top descending downward" is not accurate.

then again the consensus is from all of us who are not on the panels and are only speculating. for all we know the panels could look like this

Well of course, I'm just saying the speculation for THIS round. The idea is that by the time PUBNAT7 goes through this, I won't have to care because I'll have a job.

I look forward to pretending to know what's going on for them :)
 
One thing that kinda makes me think that the score is shown is that the manager I spoke with in OKC said, "you got a 95 on the test, you shouldn't have a problem getting hired". She didn't say you are well qualified, she repeated my score.

This was after me bitching about the ASAP system randomly removing my work history from the app.....I thought about asking her for a safe location to put for geo prefs since they screwed up, but didn't want to push my luck.

Wait you were ab le to fix your work history since the application was buggy? Who did you speak to? cause when i tried to do that they said 'no'

he wasnt able to sadly he was only complaing to them about it to see if they could fix it. trust me if he would have gotten his fixed i would have been on the phone gettin mine fixed too.

But then the next question is: If they DO see your score, how much do they care?

Same here, because of the bug, i lost 5 6 and 7, and i was told i'm pretty much hired based on my score etc etc.
