Pubnat 5/6

I received the same e-mail mbalunda received. I interviewed traditional at ZAU last Thursday, and haven't received any e-mail or paperwork information since ( I was told I "passed" the interview)

I am not paying a couple hundred bucks to go to ATL for a physical and psych exam for the Aug PEPC. It's not like doing that's going to get me to OKC any faster.

The first "logical" post I have read.

Is this confirmed it doesn't speed the process? my unemployed self is not inclined to spend money for a ticket for no dang reason

For what it is worth, I attended the Chicago PEPC and was also emailed an invitation to the Atlanta PEPC. It makes me think "do they have all my PEPC paperwork"? 5 & 6 are getting the run-around, and it is really effed up. There have been a ton of mistakes with our group. I asked them to respond to me if their records indicate that I had not gone to the chicago PEPC so I can contact C.S. my HR rep.....I will let you guys know when I get a response....er if I get one at all.

The three fold mission of the FAA On Boarding process:
1. Confuse and distract patron
2. Leave patron in the dark
3. Do not reply to patron pleas for help.
4. Laugh

Nothing is confirmed in the ATC world since we are all left in the dark, but in my eyes, it would be a waste of money *UNLESS* you are going to a facility which is in DIRE NEED such as Alaska and Louisiana (just 2 examples as I do not know what/if else is in the same situation) because you have a better chance of getting to the Academy faster. The majority of us will not be getting class dates until November/December/January so why spend all that money on Plane ticket and Hotel room when you could just finish the traditional route? As I see it, whichever way you end up going, you're going to be sitting around twirling your thumbs for months anyways.. why not save a few bucks?

I received this e-mail for the ATL PEPC also. My state is one of those considered in demand so I will definitely be going. I'm hoping to hit the academy with some Pubnat 3/4 'ers

I'm kind of beginning to doubt my previous post. Though I don't think I'm going to change my mind. The e-mail says that if you're declining this PEPC to reply by July 10th. So if I e-mail tomorrow declining, are they going to put me in a "holding pattern" until the following monday, the 13th and then send out the necessary e-mails for the next steps?

At this point, I've had my interview and am waiting for the next step...getting e-mailed forms, and telling me when and where to take the physical/psych exam, etc.

So i suppose if I decline this new PEPC and they get back to me fast, I could have all these things done even before the Aug 3rd PEPC rolls around.

Or....they put me on hold and contact me sometime after the 10th of July and all my stuff gets pushed back a bit.

I guess either way, no matter what happens it still won't get me to OKC any faster no matter what I do.....right...right?

ALTHOUGH....I'm going to ZHU which by looking here and on Stuckmic, there's been a lot of people going there...so there might be a need at ZHU which means OKC sooner than most. though who knows.

Just someone tell me to decline the PEPC, continue going on the traditional route and save my money...

Thanks to my gracious parents, I think I am going to go to the PEPC, since they will pay for the trip. Yes, I am going to travel 1000 mi for a physical and a psych eval.

Decline PEPC. Continue traditional route. Save money.

I went traditional route and got all my stuff done approximately a week and a half after the Chicago PEPC. In the whole application timeline, I doubt a week and a half is gonna get you to OKC any sooner.

I'm glad I didn't get into the Chicago PEPC. I saved a ton of money in travel expenses, got my TOL sooner than the PEPC folks, and completed all of my processing only a week after those who went to the PEPC. And with no hassle.

Traditional route definitely has its benefits and can potentially be better than the PEPC route. But it's a little bit more of a gamble because I think the speed at which a traditional router moves through his/her steps is determined by the facility and possibly HR rep, and maybe even a few other factors. For me it was fantastic.

How was the Physical? Details details

There are still people waiting to interview. I'd say the traditional route is a gamble at best. Most people have not had as much luck as you.

mbalunda-
I must agree with you - I am still wtg for a call to interview at ZOB (it's been over a month). i got the email - hopefully I'll get into this pepc! IMO I would rather get everything done in one day (despite the cost) and all of the necessary paperwork to the correct folks. this process has been long enough and I don't want to worry about sending the paperwork in and hoping it makes it to the right people!

It was great. I did the basics at my facility with the on-site nurse (vision, hearing, blood pressure, color test, and of course the good old urine sample). Then she sent me to an AME about 20 minutes up the highway for the rest of my evaluation that had to be done by an actual doctor (reflex test, ears, throat, stomach, turn and cough :)). Then I went back to my facility for my EKG, and that was it. After that was finished I went over to another part of the facility and took my MMPI-2.

Nothing I hadn't seen before since I've been flying for 9 1/2 years. Even got to go to my regular AME for the doctor portion. The only thing new was the EKG, but it was very quick and totally painless. The MMPI took me about an hour which I think is pretty typical.

Yeah, if you don't have any hair on your body when the nurse goes to rip the little sensors off of you. The lady who took mine off ripped against the grain and took a nice little sample of my chest hair with her... Talk about pain!
