Pubnat 5/6

Do you think it would be worth taking the FAA Form 8500-7 to my eye doctor and having him fill it out? I could then take it to the PEPC to give to them if there's any question whether my vision is 20/20.

But at the same time, if they won't take the form at the PEPC, then I'll have burned up my once-a-year covered eye exam.

I PMed him about it. He says that he doesn't deal much with ATC, so he's not sure. All he knows is the same that I do, which is how pilots are screened.

I was able to get this deal at priceline for the same hotel, as well. If anyone is still looking for a hotel, this is an awesome deal.

Thanks, UTAMAV, for posting this.

No prob man, I'm all about helping my other peeps.

Sounds good.

I'm not really worried about being corrected to 20/20. I've held a first class medical certificate for the past 7 years without any issues as far as vision is concerned. My current eyeglass prescription seems to be alright. They've just had to test me on the Snell chart instead of the machine, since I have problems with the machine.

That being said, I think I will go have my eye doctor do the form, just in case.

Thanks, again.

Do you know how strict they are when doing the test? DO you have to read every single letter on the line? what happens if you miss one, do they let you try again or read a differnt set of letter?

Take this for what its worth but when I went to the doc to get my eye's checked, I told her I need to have my vision checked for 20/20 since I will be getting an exam from a flight surgeon.

So during my exam with her, I asked her about the "O" and "C" because sometimes they do look very very similar. She seem to know about how flight surgeons do the testing and told me that they will take that to account if you mix an "O" and "C" and read a new set of letters. Just my two cents.

I'm trying to make sure this PEPC goes as smoothly as possible. Got my eyes checked last week (20/15). So now the MMPI. . .

I'm going to go to the library at OU and get a book on the MMPI-2 to see exactly what it entails and what kinds of "craziness" it looks for.

Is this a good idea or a waste of time?

The more you try to "prepare" for the MMPI, the more likely you are to fail

Just be totally honest. Don't try to guess the answer you think they want you to give. There are no "right and wrong" answers. Just true/false. Some questions are there to "trick" you, it's apart of the design of the test, to test your honesty. Don't freak out about it, cause honestly, it is just you being truthful. Plain and simple.

It's my birthday dudes!!!!!:nana2::nana2::nana2::nana2: Let us eat cake.

So, the wife and I were scanning the boards to obtain an average time from TOL to FOL to OKC. It looks like everyone (all those who did the PEPC route) received their FOL ~3mos after TOL and had an OKC date ~1mos after FOL. I know there are other factors and variables such as facility needs, budgetary limits.....but what is you guys' take on how long it will be from our PEPC in Chicago next week to receiving our FOL. Let the speculation begin......and GO!

I don't know, I am not getting my hopes up for an October school date. everything has taken longer for pubnat 5/6 than it has for previous pubnats. I think the pubnat 1 people had school dates a year after their pubnat closed, maybe less, whereas here we are pubnat 5 and its been 11 months just to get to the PEPC/Interview process.
