UTAMAV-- you finish the eqwhip yet? We are just waiting on the middle names of his half-sisters. How serious do they take the financial section? Everything is over 5 years old but we don't know old account numbers. Oh well, can't do anything about it now...

Pretty much done. I still need to fill in some odd jobs I had during college, and oddly enough finish some information regarding MY half-sisters as well. The financial stuff is important. You want to show that, even if you have had bad things on your credit, that you have shown an increased ability and moral to handle finances appropriately over the past few years. Just be completely open and candid and there should be no problems. Don't worry about account numbers, I think they're more worried about debts that are delinquent, foreclosures, bankruptcies and the circumstances surrounding all of these issues.

Well, tried talking with the specialist today about the QIP and for some reason they don't know what the problem is and so transfered my problem for someone else to look at. She said they will call me right away and still no phone call.

Called the tech assist desk again and he said he will call me back and still no call back.

Called D.V. (the person who emailed us our QIP info) she's out of the office today and tomorrow...and this sucks! LOL

Gotta love the speed of our govnt. But its all good

If you don't get it done prior to PEPC, you will do it there.. Just be prepared to spend an extra few hours doing it! hehe

Right after I wrote my previous entry, they called me back! WOOT. Only waited 1 day and 1.5 hours!

Anyway, if anyone else is having a problem like I did where there is no link for you to start your application which should read "Enter your data"
(unlike me where it read "Import your data") ask the senior specialist (not the regular specialist since they seem not to know) to take you out of the system, reset your golden question and then place you back in the system fresh. They will ask what facility your headed because the forms are different I guess.

This solved my problem and I am on my way to filling out the application that I so wanted to do :insane: ... :rotfl:

I hope this info help those with future glitches LOL

On another note, I was one of the last people to get an interview invite (traditional only), and I scheduled my interview today for next friday

Sweet. You get to interview at the facility where you'll be working. Good way to get to know the mgrs and get a tour of the facility, if you haven't already.

Best wishes to you! :)

Took me 6 months for all my clearances. But then again, that was my fault

FSM,

Do you know how strict they are with the vision test? Can you tell me how the test is or what they make you do. Are they extremely strict on being able to read every letter on the chart with both eyes @ 20/20?

It is a Driver's License type test where you press your head against the machine and read the letters on the very bottom line. You have to have 20/20 corrected vision. They also did a color blindness test where you have to read the numbers in the colored bubbles.

If your vision is iffy, just go update your perscription before the PEPC.

Thanks! I talked to the manager for a few minutes and I will get a tour when I go out there. It is about 3.5-4 hours away from where I live now, so I won't be making a special trip[edit: for a tour]. It was kind of funny because he was talking like I knew nothing about the process, but he seemed like a good guy.

Do you know if they'll let you do one on the old fashioned Snell chart if you can't do the one in the machine? The reason I ask is that, for some reason, I have a really hard time reading the 20/20 line in the machine, but I can see the 20/20 line just fine on the Snell chart. That's what they use where I get my flight physical renewed.

I think they had a standard eye chart on the wall at the PEPC, but I never saw anyone use it, so I don't know for sure. Sorry, hopefully someone else here will know.

you'll hear from them, despite the naysayers, i wouldnt start worrying just yet. what day did you get the invite to interview? I got mine on 6/2

If I remember correctly, I saw someone using the Snell chart at my PEPC in Chicago back in March. I didn't personally have to, but I do remember seeing a guy getting tested that way.

Go to the "Ask a Flight Surgeon" Forum.

If anything...you could just get a waiver ahead of time from your local optometrist. I suggest hitting up the eye exam ahead of time anyway.

I'm the same way. I think it has to do with lighting and the like. Either way, I got my prescription done AFTER the PEPC and I'm good to go now.

Just like others have said, go get your vision checked prior to the PEPC that way it won't delay you any further.

Do you think it would be worth taking the FAA Form 8500-7 to my eye doctor and having him fill it out? I could then take it to the PEPC to give to them if there's any question whether my vision is 20/20.

But at the same time, if they won't take the form at the PEPC, then I'll have burned up my once-a-year covered eye exam.

Bring any paperwork you have to your PEPC. ANYTHING.

If you go and get your vision checked prior to your PEPC, they should be able to correct it to 20/20. If not, then you will be DQ'd from the process.

Sounds good.

I'm not really worried about being corrected to 20/20. I've held a first class medical certificate for the past 7 years without any issues as far as vision is concerned. My current eyeglass prescription seems to be alright. They've just had to test me on the Snell chart instead of the machine, since I have problems with the machine.

That being said, I think I will go have my eye doctor do the form, just in case.

Thanks, again.

Don't you mean eqWHip?

On another note, for those of us going to chicago. I booked the hyatt regency at priceline. I low balled and got $50/night (Captain Kirk is a great spokesman for priceline, he taught me not to be a 'namby pamby'). It's a four star hotel, all the fancy stuff, and is only a mile from 2300 Devon Ave. Check it out if you haven't booked yet.

UTAMAV:bandit:

I was able to get this deal at priceline for the same hotel, as well. If anyone is still looking for a hotel, this is an awesome deal.

Thanks, UTAMAV, for posting this.
