Pubnat 5/6

I agree. I have noticed a sudden shift in people's attitudes toward this process the moment they are selected.

One minute it's "This is illogical and unfair!". The next minute (email in hand), it's "Quit whining!"
 
I can totally understand the intense frustration that comes with this whole process. We had issues with PUBNAT1 when the computer messed up my husbands work history and delayed us in this whole process. And then we missed PUBNAT 2 & 3 and then to be over looked for both Hawaii and PUBNAT4, and seeing lower ATSAT scores being taken at the facilities we had applied for, was infuriating. It was really hard to see people celebrating and throwing around their acceptance letters and PEPC invites was too much to deal with that I just left jetcareers until the next PUBNAT came around. I'm not saying that people who are unhappy should leave, that was just my way of dealing with it.

To say something that might tick some people off...while I am happy for everyone that was accepted, I am happiest for the ones who have been waiting for more than just one or two PUBNATs. Try waiting for 16 months to hear you FINALLY got a PEPC invite. I laugh when I read about the people who are "so tired of waiting" and this is their first or second go-around.

To those who got your invite, be happy, it is a big deal. I proudly display my dancing banana, even if it does make people sad they haven't gotten an invite. To those who didn't get one...complain all you want, this is an aggrevating process and you need to vent, but just know either this thread will be broken down into some other thread (celebrating TOLs or FOLs or the like) or you'll be like I was, and leave after you get tired of reading about the happy people.

I didn't see anything starting in this thread yet.

Just wondering who's hiring so I know what to pick for my Pubnat7 Geoprefs...

I think someone out there has a spreadsheet about the current offer locations, but I haven't seen a dedicated thread to it.
 
I think the only thing that can be said is that nobody knows anything about how applicants are selected. People with high ATSAT scores (me) hope and pray that that's all they really look at. However, the truth of the matter is that if it was that simple, they wouldn't take a whole week to make selections. We have no clue as to the actual selection process.

As far as connections go, they help, but they aren't the end-all and be-all to getting hired. I have a "person on the inside". He called me the day they were selecting and said, "Here's the deal: Right now you've got these two states selected. However, all of my connections are in the Eastern Region. They're not really hiring OTS right now, only military and CTI, however, I'm pretty sure I can get you picked up in the DC, MD, VA area if you're willing to change your geo prefs. Otherwise, if you still want TX, you're pretty much on your own."

I said do whatever you have to. But he couldn't change my prefs, so I was going it alone. He called me three hours later to say that I had gotten picked up and where.

Point being, my connection served no purpose but to take me out of the waiting game weeks before everybody else.
 
I hope so..although, I was 4 months pregnant in that picture (6 1/2 months right now) and I have 2 kids...so I guess I should be flattered...HA!

oh, just in case anyone wants to know...

I just checked ASAP and they have updated the applications tab. My husband wasn't selected for PUBNAT5 but the info hasn't changed for PUBNAT6. So I guess if you're still wondering about whether or not you are going to get a PEPC invite in the near future, you could check out ASAP.
 
My pubnat5 has also changed to the dreaded "Another candidate..." message, but pubnat6 remains the same. I don't know what to think of this.
 
My PUBNAT 5 and 6 both say "Another candidate". PUBAK remained "Being Considered". So, I assume that the selection of people for PUBAK continued into these panels, as well.
 
Sounds like a lot of folks had their ASAP page updated with the "Another candidate was selected...." message.

Maybe the one day of emails really was all there was for 5/6? Although some folks have the 'not selected' message for one pubnat they applied for, and the other one still says 'under review' so maybe they aren't quite done yet. I can't imagine they'll wait much longer to send out selection emails though.
 
Yeah, I got the "another selected" message for my Pub6 application, but on the Pub5 one, I am still being considered. WTF? It's like they are still trying to dangle that carrot in front of my nose.

Now, was it speculation that there was another batch of emails going out, or was that confirmed with someone at aviation careers?

Just wondering if I can still check my email every minute, or if it's ok to give the F5 button a rest.....
