PSA New Hire Questions

I talked to a "gate agent manager" or whatever they are called and he told me that he knows we are supposed to be able to ride the jumpseat on company metal and he's talked to several CAs, management types, etc about it... But he was adamant that policy in CLT was that if your not in CASS, you don't get the jumpseat. Company metal or not.

We fought that battle in Charlotte in 2009 (or maybe 2010). It took getting the CP involved to get things straightened out. Also, having captains start taking delays because they were "working on the issue" with dispatch and PSA operations probably helped too.

Good lord I wish I would of known this 2 days ago... I got denied a jumpseat on company metal coming out of CLT. It wasn't a big deal but it was a little frustrating.

Did you ever talk directly to the captain on the flight?

Gate agents do not have the right to deny you access to the jumpseat.

Call dispatch. Tell them to please ACARS flight XXXX that a company pilot is trying to jumpseat and not being let down the jetway.

Even easier, ask a passenger if he'll ask the FAs to tell the CA that there's another pilot upstairs trying to hitch a ride. It's worked twice for me.

Can someone PM me a contact phone number for HR? Need to ask them about something and I can't for the life of me find the dang number. Thanks!

If you dial the main scheduling/dispatch number and press 0 (during office hours) you'll get the front desk at corporate and they will connect you. At least that worked a few years ago.

I found a list on the company website. Home page, click the "Information" link on the left side, then on the next page, on the lower left portion of the frames, there are three links to a list of folks, sorted three different ways.

Does anyone know if all new hire classes are now starting on the 700/900? I heard the class that just started is and I'm in the March 30th class but only have info for the 200 that they sent me 2 months ago.

I've heard that it will be an every other class type of thing. The idea being that the initial sims will be split between the 200 and 900. Initial sims is 11-13 sessions (including sim zero, checkride, and loft) and differences sim is only 2-3 sessions. If they alternate between the two, it will help speed up the time to start sims after your oral.

It really doesn't matter which airplane you start in. You will cover the other one in differences before you start IOE, and then do IOE in both aircraft anyways. If it were up to me, I would want to start in the 200. It is less automated (FADEC, fire tests, bleeds/packs) and I am happy that I had the extra time in systems, IPT's, and sims to learn all of the manual systems in the 200. The 900 is much easier. Either way, though, you will get the same material.

Just because you started in the 700/900 doesn't mean that you will fly the 700/900 more.

My class date is April 13th and they only gave me 200 info to study with little 700 info included, but stated they wanted us to study the 200 info given
