PSA New Hire FO Classes Suspended

You absolutely have a stake in where PSA opens new bases. If they keep opening oustation bases Charlotte will become more and more relatively senior. Sure, you don't think that affects you now, but what happens when you upgrade?

Now that there shows experience. Flying had to come from somewhere. Based on my cvg-phl commute I only see CLT crews working that.... That's only one example of lost routing for CLT and I'm an outsider that sees such.

I honestly don't know if I plan to stick around that long. But we shall see. It is my understanding that they have grown CLT to right about where they want it, and most new flying will come with new aircraft. Once CVG is starting to be staffed I'm sure we can expect another base announcement. My money is still on DCA. Then as we begin servicing ORD, perhaps a more Midwest crew domicile.

Nobody "plans" to stick around at a regional. All the best to ya and good luck. It ain't as easy to leave as you seem to think.

Flying isn't my only source of income. My original plan when I decided to come to PSA was to get my 1,000 SIC and then evaluate where I am and what I want to be doing. If it appears that I will still be able to upgrade in about 2 years like I originally figured, and I feel ready for it, I may stick around. If I decide that this isn't for me, then I'll go find something else. I am doing my best not to tie my future to the whims of the regional industry, and I always leave my options open.

Upgrade Chris. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I'm sure you would as well. And get a side business going. I'm doing landscaping and installing small irrigation systems for people on my days off while the wife is at work. Its a detox from work and the extra cash is always nice.

I did lawn care for 7 years. Definitely a good cash money maker. Regardless of the economy people need their grass cut (too busy working to cut, or if in good times, disposable income
to hire someone).

And to me, I think its fun. I also enjoy being outside so I consider it a win-win.

Instead of doing a side business I just picked up trips. At AWAC I would routinely do 18-19 hour credit day trips when you include the premium pay calculation in there. At $80/hr that' a decent chunk of change, how many lawns do you have to cut to gross $1,500?!?

Once you get established in a place where you won't move doing rentals might be a good side business but you need money to start and you get that by working your butt off! Sure some will have carry over skills from another position like a software engineer would but most don't, and working over time at your commuter is a really good way to make some decent money. IMO.

I try to pick up day trips when I can. Especially since I upgraded. Its a easy way to make extra fun money for sure. But they are becoming harder to find. I love living in base though so that the option to do that is there!

I have talked for awhile about wanting to have a rental property. It will happen one day, for sure!

Don't be in that big of a rush! It's certainly nice to have someone else pay your mortgage, but there are a lot of headaches involved.

When's the next new hire FO class? Have they started hiring FO's again after this thread was started back in May?

There was a class that started sep28 and one slated for oct10th. Not sure passed that but the word was 2 a month again with about 20 per class.

Talked to an old student who works there said that the latest FO class that just started Last week had less then 8 people? Is it that short out there?
