PSA New Hire FO Classes Suspended

Any word on if thats a large class, or just a small class of FO's? Has there been much movement with the training program, or are people still off work for several months between training cycles.
I would not expect to be off work for several months between training events moving forward.

Anyone hear anything about FO classes starting back up?

It also sounds like the training times aren't quite as spaced out.. anyone have any good info?

Nothing official yet, but the last word I heard was that FO classes would resume in the fall. Which makes sense because the training department is just now starting to get guys from the March through May classes through sims and on to IOE. So the training pipeline won't be as clogged when classes resume which will be great for new guys. Also heard that we are finally getting iPads by 4th Q 2015. And the company wants to go to a PBS style bidding system 1st Q 2016.

I'm still waiting for IOE, February 2 class, along with a few classmates. I know some early March folks are in initial sims now.

I know those that were 200 initial are still backed up a bit, but those who started on the 7/900 and were in March classes are now starting IOE.

True. Keep forgetting not everyone started on the 200. They need to push some of those folks from late March who are doing IOE back, before the rest of us from February and earlier in March run out on consolidation time. I was kind of hoping I would actually fly the plane some before going to recurrent training! Lol

I am pretty sure the entire March 16 class is through training now, if not finishing up OE differences in the -200.

Yea the reality is that many are having to go back for PCs... Several from my class are having to. I was among the "lucky" handful that got their consolidation time.

I'd say of my class that started out with 29 (I think) pilots, we lost 3 or 4 in sims, 3 or 4 have already moved on (one to Delta), and we've had about 6 or 7 maybe that have gone to upgrade. That's almost half of the pilots who stated as FOs now gone.

We started with 31, lost one through Indoc (decided airline life was not for him) and two through sim training (one failed, one took another job) plus one on hold with a medical issue. I have not heard of any of our remaining 27 leaving.

Edit: one classmate was a sim instructor, so I guess 26 remain. Some are done with IOE.

Can't believe the classes are so big. The classes at TSA are pulling 6-12. The last class only has 2!!!

They could've had 3 but my application, emails, phone calls, and Facebook messages to them all go ignored. Yet they're "desperate for pilots." SMFH

The late April 700/900 class are on their way to sims now. I was in the March 30th class and we have all gone through sims about 5 waiting for IOE the rest are already sitting reserve or in upgrade.

IPads are a for sure thing, so is CVG as a base. BNA is still in the works and they are working on PBS but from what I heard they expect it to take longer then the beginning of 2016 to role out. SSP is only increasing by one but they're working on language that will allow it to increase once they catch up on Captain upgrades and it's changing to a direct flow.

Flew with a CA today who is also a recruiter... I was told that they are now hiring FOs again and are just about caught up for now on Captains. So that's good news for those interested. We are looking to have a total of 2000 pilots and right now we're at about 1300. And keep in mind attrition is already picking up from the FO side and the CA side. That will only increase. Lots of airplanes and growth and we are going to be announcing AT LEAST one new base before the end of 2015 and at least 2 more in 2016.

I guess the only good thing about February classes still waiting on IOE is that we are senior to the later classes who are already flying, and will hopefully skip the reserve life or most of it. It's demotivating however, hanging in limbo and not flying.

Just stick it out man... I bet you don't even sit but a month of reserve if that.

Yeah limbo sucks but you're getting paid now what you would be sitting reserve so take advantage of the flexibility while you have it.

Hahaha...I love when people in this industry say "sure thing."
