PSA CRJ-700 AA midair collision

These hueys cut through there all the time so there is most likely a comfort factor the controllers have with those guys having a heightened situational awareness. You can tell the controller is uncomfortable with where he is but human factors are he believes it'll be just like the 1000 other times he's trusted the Huey pilots to be on the same page.... Until they're not. Something that will be awful to live with.

In this case, Army Blackhawk out of DAA. But yes. USAF Hueys out of ADW, along with all other fed, state, and local helo traffic, utilize these routings through the Class B also.

Weird question, but would it ever be the case that ATC would direct a rotary craft to basically stop and hover to wait for traffic?

psychologically it sounds like going against ATC keeping things flowing but it would make sense while a circle to land is occurring?

Physically they could, but I think helos work better staying moving.

If we needed helos to wait (on a ship) we just put helos on a starboard D, overhead D, or port D …. Before it starts getting tight, tell Marshall to keep them and not send them, while waiting for green deck to recover.

This is a valid question. Not usually, but give them a 360 and/or a vector, or perhaps even a climb? Absolutely. Depending on how much traffic is on the particular routing.

Visiting Gravelly Park used to be a 4th of July tradition for my college buddies and me.

Even then, watching the helicopter traffic up and down the Potomac, it felt like tragedy was just around the corner. I guess it took 40 years for the Swiss cheese holes to line up.
