PNCL Files Chapter 11

Late to the party here, but wanted to say good luck to everyone involved in this mess.

One of my buddies at PNCL already got to play the "we have no rooms for your crew because your company is bankrupt" game. Hang in there.
as soon as I seen the 6 mil in hotel fees in their ch11 filing I was afaraid the crews were going to be screwed. sure hope it doesnt start being a common thing for them to show up to a hotel and be turned away!

Wait until you roll up at an outstation and they won't fuel you until they get a credit card number.

That's all kinds of fun.

A truly horrible idea. The APA has direct elections of the BOD Officers by the line pilots. It results in an enormous mess, because the three Officers feel that they can do what they want (since they're directly elected by the pilots), even though the BOD Domicile Reps (also directly elected) are technically supposed to be in charge and directing the Officers. The last President had huge conflicts for years with the BOD, because he refused to listen to them, and there was nothing that the BOD could do, because he was directly elected. Since a recall is virtually impossible when you have to get the entire membership of a 10,000 pilot union involved to accomplish it, the only thing that could be done was wait out the end of his term.

Again, horrible, horrible idea. Direct election of representatives makes sense at the domicile (council) level. It does not make sense at the MEC Officer or National Officer level.

Frankly, I don't care. You have no idea what that job entails, and you don't know the people who run for it. The representatives have a much better idea of what the national level jobs require, and they know the candidates on at least a basic level. That basic understanding is necessary in order to ensure that effective leaders are elected.

Yeah, great idea. I'm sure pilots would be lined up around the block to volunteer to do 20 times the amount of work for the exact same compensation. :sarcasm:

He has no conflict of interest. He doesn't negotiate your contract, or the contract of the Delta pilots. His job is to get things done in DC, and to manage the Association overall at the national level. This presents no conflict of interest whatsoever. If you think it does, please point out where the conflict exists.

CAPA is useless. They accomplish nothing. When you have zero influence and no one pays attention to you, you can claim all sorts of positions. When you actually have true influence, it's a little bit different. Changing the RLA right now when the House is controlled by Republicans would be a suicide mission. We would end up with some monstrosity like baseball style arbitration, which is what Senator McCain tried to force through the last time that RLA changes were discussed. If you want to change the RLA, then I would suggest that you start voting Democrat and start convincing others to do the same. We need a Democratic majority in the House and a 60-seat Democratic majority in the Senate before such a thing is even remotely possible.

If you think that, then you must have reading comprehension difficulties. I'm opposed to outsourcing. But I'm also realistic about solutions.

E&FA did no such thing.

What exactly do you expect them to do?

Thanks for clearing that up, Todd. As you're probably aware, Cencal is OFTEN misinformed and clueless on these things. Yet, he feels the need to spout off on how things 'should be' when he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Yup. You'd have better luck convincing somebody on hoarders that they have a problem.

Listening to the call as a jr FO it's time to leave ASAP. The lack of unity in this group is going to lead to "Airways:Regional Edition"

I don't know who "Pete" was at the beginning of the Q&A at the end but he really does not like us Colganites haha.

When this kind of stuff starts happening, I can see how it would be very difficult to maintain the professionalism and just fly the contract; as some are advocating. While it would be great if that could be; with crap like the above occurring, in addition to everything else, at what point does it no longer become worth it to remain on the sinking ship, so to speak? How much should someone be forced to put up with?

Calling it a sinking ship is hardly accurate. Airlines go into bankruptcy. It's just what they do in the world of deregulation (another reason to re-regulate, but that's another story). Pinnacle isn't sinking. It will be around for a long time to come. The restructuring will be painful, but restructuring is all that this is. Not liquidation.

It's a sinking ship when you are 219 from the bottom.

For those who missed the conference call or missed the brief mention of the item:

Picketing Event at One Commerce Square next Wednesday (April 11th) at Noon.

Picketing is for payroll errors and corporate pay raises as a small secondary action.

Getting the feeling that there will be more of these events (and conference calls) as the bankrupcy proceeds.

If you thought that was bad, you probably would have died from a stroke or heart failure if you read the old Airlink Pilots message board during JCBA and ISL negotiations. :)

Also Wychor said that he wants all sim instructors that are giving unfair check rides brought to his attention. Said he will make sure they are pulled off the training line. One of the Colgan guys called and vaguely brought it up, Tom was pretty stern about it.

I'm pretty sure Pete was drunk, most of his posts on the old Airlinkpilots seemed that way......

Wychor seemed pretty firm in a lot of things and sounds like he is trying to keep thing under control. He sounded pretty confident and was able to answer almost all of the questions he was asked and seemed knowledgeable about the subjects as well. I think we are in a good postion with him as MEC Chairman (my opinion, subject to change :))

I wonder if anyone warned Wychor about Pete...

wychor put him in his place. pete was loose cannon. He was even yelling at a negotiator that turned out to be pncl pre merger.

I don't know Todd. You're playing for a different team now. Southwest isn't ALPA, they are a part of CAPA.

http://www.capapilots.org/

All I know is that 9 out of 10 old skool UPS pilots that were former ALPA would foam at the mouth when you even mentioned ALPA. That's my education on the subject. You will have a cute response to what idiots they are but they lived it and passed it on. You are about to work for a CAPA airline. You just got a raise. And I'd compare my useless CAPA airline W2 with any maxed out AirTran guy. I got no problem with you being ALPA loyal and all that. But there is no call for dissing the other unions as you always do. I'd be much more in favor of us all working together. Check the link above. CAPA is doing their best to reverse the cargo cutout. The IPA is suing the FAA. You can laugh at that, and I'm sure you will, but it makes me feel like my dues money is going for something that makes me feel proud in that it's the right thing. Might not get anywhere but at least we tried it and made the statement.
