Pilots and Tattoos

What's wrong with UCLA and OSU, Iain? Ohio State and ULCA both have great law schools.

Nothing, they are both good schools, but not as good as Harvard, or Yale......... I will put money you will see a difference in the number of tattoos between the 2.

Don't try to imply I said any of those things. I was simply saying that the average person sporting a tattoo has below average intelligence. That has been my experience and I'm 99% sure if there was an independent survey done it would confirm what I said.

WOW! You're kidding...... right?

I said it was a guess, to my knowledge there hasn't been any survey like that done. All I really know is that in school the kids I knew who had less then a 2.0 usually had some kind of body modification or wanted it.

Where I went to college if you had less than a 2.0 they kicked you out.

And where I went to school, which was a top ranked program in the english speaking world for my program, most of the kids in my department had some sort of body modification, be it tattoo's or piercings.

Depends on the program. There are a few public schools that beat out a few Ivy league schools when it comes to the rankings.

So you must havev missed this then!

I'm not a Christian. I don't care what Jesus would have done. But if you want to ask me about it in religious terms I would say I think tattoos are indulgent and self destructive and that would be a satanic characteristic.

Tattoo satanic and self destructive...??? Ummmm okay!

No I'm not, I know it's very shocking to some people these days to see someone make a statement like that against a group of people who have a perceived weakness.

I haven't been to college yet. I was talking about my high school.

The first of the nine satanic statements.
"Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!"

For someone who isn't a christian you sure seem to live by christian example and spit out their doctrine. Stop for a moment and consider maybe that relgion is simply a "locus of control".

Killtron, you're really showing your true intelligence. I haven't heard such nonsense in quite a long time...maybe once you get out of high school you'll grow up.

Some people around here need to get out of the little bubble they've been living in and open up their minds a little bit. If there is something I've learned in my short life, it's don't judge people by their appearance and I know how hard it is to keep from doing that.

I don't have any tattoos or piercings and I have no intention of getting any, but calling people who have them dumb and unintelligent is pretty dumb and unintelligent.

The parts that make sense anyways. To me avoiding indulgent and self destructive people makes sense. I don't see what you mean by religion being a "locus of control" I'm not saying that some supernatural force punishes people for things like tattoos. I think they bring it on themselves.

This goes with my line of thinking about passing judgement about someone based on spelling, grammar, and opinions on a message board. IDIOTIC!

So what your saying is someone like myself with a tattoo is self destructive? Please explain what you mean by this statement. Just curious

Damn the huge bold letters weren't enough I honestly don't know what to do. Should I just stop responding to this kind of thing?

2 example of smart people who got tattoos doesn't prove anything. I said on average people with tattoos are dumber then people without them. I am going to stomp this out before it gets going. I did NOT say any of the following.

Every/most dumb people have a tattoo
No smart person has a tattoo
Anyone who has a tattoo did it to fit in
Only dumb people have tattoos

But I will say this, almost anyone who has a tattoo will deny they did it to fit in when that is most likely the reason.

Well see you say what you said in quotes then you said this:

Hmmmm the two statements seem to contradict one another! So which one is it,I vote for the latter!

I didn't say anything about tattoos and piercing being indulgent there. I was talking about the AVERAGE intelligence of people who get them.

I said this because you wanted to explore the moral and religious implications of getting a tattoo which don't necessarily have anything to do with how smart the average person who injects ink under their skin is.

Just as ones choice to get a tatto doesn't necessarily reflect ones moral or religious affliation either.

Killtron2000 said:
That is a serious question. In my experience the people I have known that have tattoos or unusual piercings have below average intelligence. I honestly would not trust those people with a 500 dollar car.
Dude, I know a couple of ex-special forces soldiers who are not just smarter than me, but could kill me in ten different ways before I could blink. They got inked.

In fact, Chinook, don't a lot of you military guys get tatoos to identify what unit you are with?

Me? They're not my cup of tea. But to each his own. Now, are there career repercussions to having a tatoo that's visible? Yes, there are. But the intelligence of those who get tatoos goes all the way from just barely able to write their own name to geniuses who speak three different languages fluently and who are studying for their PhDs.

Right, I mean there are plenty of straight edge Christians who get them and that has more to do with stupidity and conformity. Many if not most Christians have satanic values whether or not they worship Jesus they are still indulgent and personify the worst of both philosophies in my opinion. Of course I think getting a cross tattoo is more rebellious then getting an arm band or whatever is popular these days. Tattoos use to be rebellious now they are for conformity.
