I think everyone is entitled to their own oppinions for sure. There is really no way to explain why one would have or want a tattoo to someone that does not share the same oppinion in the matter. The same is applied to so many other things, it is what makes this country diverse.
The bottom line is that a tattoo was my choice and it was absolutely not to look cool or feel cool which is at the bottom of my personal agenda. I stated my reasons for the two tattoos which i currently have in my earlier post and i completely stand behind them in any argument. It is my body and i am very passionate about my decision.
On the other hand, i know how critical the world can be especially when it comes to appearance, so i chose very wisely where these tattoos would go on my body, unless tanktops and tightie whities become the uniform of the day for any corporation or outfit which i choose to fly for then there will be no way to ever know that i even have them. As a matter of a fact i cant even remember the last person i even showed them to or has even seen them. They are for me and for the memory of my fallen friend and no one else.
"I just find it the most unattractive, unsophisticated and primative thing someone can do - it is like a man made rash, or skin blemish."
I Money- I feel this is a very shallow statement to make on your behalf and i counter this with, I would not want to associate myself with someone who has this kind of one sided narrow view of another person, especially if we are talking about a tattoo that is not even visible. If you met me, i would be willing to bet that you may never know i had a tattoo and by your statement you are saying that if and when you found out about it you would feel that the mere fact of ink on my body brings discredit to myself and all that i stand for.
I dont have a problem with your oppinion because everyone is entitled to their own oppinions i just think that you need to work on how you word things and how you come across to others. You only make a first impression once and if you would be so bold as to make the statements you have made in regards to tattoos i dont even want to know your views on some other subjects.
I guess that is my rant..this thread will go on for days i am sure. But be assured i am not bashing anyones oppinion, just standing up for what i believe in. I do agree that conformity is paramount in todays corporate society, i mean hell, i am in the Marines..i do not want to hear one person say that i can not conform to regulations.
Just remember, it is me and my brothers and fathers and grandfathers of the past putting our lives on the line day after day while i sit here in the middle of Iraq and while our forfathers fought in the trenches that give you the right and freedom to come on these forums and make your one sided statements about a persons worth simply due to the ink on their body.
