When I was in the Air Force, I served with a guy originally from Scotland who enlisted and then went to OTS to become an officer.

I also went through ROTC with a guy from Iceland who became an officer. I believe his stipulation was that he had to become a US citizen by the time he was commissioned.

The rules I saw regarding it are: "Enlistment into the U.S. Air Force, or any branch of the U.S. military, by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess an Immigrations and Naturalization Service Alien Registration Card (INS Form I-151/551 -- Commonly known as a "Green Card"). Applicants must be between 17 and 35; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.
Note: The U.S. military branches cannot assist foreign nationals in obtaining admittance into the United States. Questions concerning immigration to the United States should be asked of the U.S. Embassy. Only after immigration procedures are completed and an applicant is legally residing in the United States may an application for enlistment be accepted. Furthermore, in order to be commissioned an officer in the U.S. Air Force, one must be a native-born or naturalized United States citizen."

I think Australia recognizes dual citizenship, but chances are very good that you will have to renounce your Australian citizenship and become a full US citizen; the rules regarding citizenship get VERY strict and very complicated regarding taking up of arms for a country.

I also know that there are many exchange programs. I served along side an RAAF officer in one duty assignment, and number of RCAF officers in another. Also, the exchange programs also apply to flying slots, as I have heard of exchange officers flying in several different units (MikeD can probably shed more light on that program).

Not quite sure. Just disappeared. Maybe he's gone in deep cover looking for Nordic terrorists...

I think Gunnar was the model for most of Ahhhnold Swartzenegger's characters. The guy was more Ahhhhnold than Ahhhhhnold.
